I sometimes use a similar setup. Point blank s.hp xx mk flip palm whiff (changes sides) into super. Yoink.
Like you said, it can’t be abused. Its good to throw out now and then to keep the bastards honest though.
I like the reset off the tatsu because many people that I play, even good players havent seen Akumas using it at all. Mainly because as it’s been said, the sweep after is more valuable. But even if you dont have Super you can mix this reset up between HK DF and MK DF and that will put you in front or behind your opponent. You can go for the sweep ending if they are blocking high, or grab if they block low, or go for the kick / palm to keep the pressure on. Again, used too much and you’ll eat a DP everytime, but thats the beauty of Akuma and all his options. You can get multiple cross up tats / UKs etc switch between resets and what not and keep em guessing everytime

Personally, even though i pretty much never reset off cross up tatsu, i can see it being somewhat useful to use occasionally.
Something that i’ve been wondering, but not sure about is in ssf4 after a cross-up tatsu sweep it seems like im farther away from the opponent than i used to be in vanilla. So even though untechable knockdowns are great with akuma, this knockdown doesnt give me as many options as a regular tatsu-sweep does, because of how far away you are. so occasionally doing a reset can be useful at the very least to give them something else to think about.

Great set with VeNOM from here on SRK. First match we were warming up, rest of them is pretty good stuff. We both had our share of mistakes but all around great set of matches imo
Not bad. That last match was horrible on my part, but it was late and I wasn’t particularly focusing on what I was doing. Still, overall the entire set was pretty good. Really enjoyed playing against your Akuma. Your movements are really good and forced me to step up my game. I didn’t like seeing those inputs though… I missed a whole bunch of DF throws that came out as dive kicks, I dropped links left and right…
I gotta go back to practice and see if I can polish up on the c.lp, c.lp xx lk DF throw trick. I hate when I whiff it and get s.lk instead! :annoy:

From what I see, a major problem you both are having is ending your combos with fireballs. Work on using LK tatsu to HP Shoryuken/ Sweep instead. You are leaving a lot of damage on the table by not doing that. If you see that your opponent is crouching, use EX tatsu, it does 200 damage, and I think it’s worth the meter to use it.
Also when you do get the untechable knockdown, apply more safejump pressure wakeup (i.e. Option Select DF Palm into grab/Raging Demon, crossup tatsu, j.HK, etc.) The worst thing that will happen to you is that he teleports out and resets the situation.

- I’m not very good when playing all out offense, so my execution suffers a lot when trying to keep up with people who play that way (like CLxJames does)
- You talk like all we did was fireball combos when there was a lot more than that that we did. At the very least, CLxJames was following up his FB combos with FADC cr.HK in most cases which I’m not fond of doing (I’m more active with my EX meter during matches so I don’t usually want to be spending 2 bars to FADC follow for pressure). Also, we were gauging each other’s playstyle in those first games, trying to deal with a sometimes wonky connection and really, just trying to have plain ol’ fun. This wasn’t a finals match at EVO. Though if you prefer, you should watch the last 3 matches we played which I’ve uploaded to my youtube channel.
All in all, they weren’t such bad matches. At least at the level I’m playing right now, they were pretty good. Of all the Akuma’s I’ve played so far, CLxJames’ ranks right up there with Shinakuma204’s and LoyalSol’s. Though that’s not saying a lot since I haven’t played WestAB, Loltima or JR yet… Not that I’m ready for them yet (if I ever will be).

I agree with g0est’s comments. Not being the critique thread but anyway, crlp crlp crmp fb makes for stalemate spacing. If you end with ex-fb, I believe you can immediately hk.dflip kick for a safe jump attack if they technical wake. If they remain down, you still have time to jump.lk cross and continue gimmicks. Does clx use pad? Twice he did focus crumple into cs.HP. Beast mode.

Nice matches vs Rufus. I often like using fs.hp on his jumpins too. it’s a nice mental middle finger to his dive pressure. And man was he messiah happy, doesn’t that piss you off?

@ Mettleh3d: Of all the 'kuma’s I’ve played so far? He’s right beneath him and Loyalsol. Does that mean he’s at his level? Not yet. But he’s far above every other Akuma I’ve played online that plays like they’re rocking Ryu. If you think I do jab, jab, fireball (which I usually don’t bring out much in a game), take the time to watch some replays with random Akuma players in the game. It’s horrible!! I don’t know if he plays with a pad, but his FADC follow up after a FB is beastly. I’ll have to learn to incorporate it into my game for times when I’m not sure about the spacing and throw a fireball (which is the only time I even think about ending combos or block strings with FB).

I’m def not on Loyal’s, West’s or Shin’s level. My execution is still pretty bad. That and I do a lot of unsafe stuff. I still need to work on lk.tatsu > sweeps and properly timing cross up tatsus. And like it’s been stated, I’m losing a lot of damage output by not realizing I could go for lk.tatsu instead of a fireball.
I’d like to think I’m average. Better than a scrub Akuma but by no means a pro. Although I appreciate the words of praise, I still got a long way to go. Loyal has bodied me, though we haven’t played in awhile, and anytime I’ve played West I get so nervous I drop everything lol

Actually I don’t mind it so much because if I block it then he either has to waste another 2 bars or eat some kind of punish. I also took advantage of that fact and made him eat a Demon or two.
What I hate are Rufus players who carefully use the Messiah to maximum petulance (Aka wisely).
