WCG Ultimate Gamer season 2 (with Justin Wong + Tekken 6)

That Ryan dude was on Dj Wheat last week. The podcast was uploaded on Itunes not so long ago. He shared his stories about the show if anyone is interested.

That interview was HELLA jokes!

Also, PROPS to JWong for making the gauntlet!!

I’ll bite. Just say where it can be sent at.

Ive known this since she was in the CGS. that top she wore tonight blew my mind.
Good shit to kat winning again. I’ll admit the end got me hyped.

Ceaser was in Hyper Douche/Mad mode this episode.

Kat really caught my eye the episode before, but she looked DAMN good this time.
Smart move too, letting Faye drain the brief case too.

Faye’s godlike drop kick at the end on the ladder was better. Everyone on TeamSpooky stream was like, “wtf bitch, you running the wrong way” before she knocked kat off the ladder. What an amazing comeback. It was a close match, I was hyped at the end…

Well, guess I want to throw in my 2 cents here. It’s looking to me like the finals is likely Kat v Rachael, with Justin having good chances over Rachael. I’m basing this mainly on how people are being portrayed. Caesar and Jake came off as complete jerks this episode, and Jake was also shown the same way in a prior episode to boot. I wasn’t surprised that Russell lost in Survivor Samoa mainly because he was also portrayed as a jerk in the first few episodes. Generally, the people editing these kind of shows want most of the audience to like the winner. So Jake and Caesar are probably out.

Moving on to Yaz, uttering this phrase lowers his chances a lot. He did add a qualifier about being glad he did anyway, but I don’t think it’s likely he made the finals.

Kat seems to have gotten a pretty good edit. The scene where she and Vanessa put their differences behind them tends to make me think she has the highest odds of being in the finals. She’s also survived two eliminations, so she’s clearly no slouch either.

So it just comes down to Justin and Rachael. Rachael seemed to be portrayed positively during the prank they tried to pull (points for her) while Justin was shown admitting to giving bad advice to Faye (points against him). On the other hand, Justin kept his cool while all the other guys were going crazy today. Neither of them have been shown having any extreme outbursts either. It’s really hard for me to call it one way or the other at this point, but I think Rachael is slightly more likely.

So, I guess I’ll just have to wait until next week to see how my predictions pan out. It’s pretty cool that Justin has made it this far. It’d be nice if they showed more actual game play though.

I heard that if you count the word totals of every character and sequence them you get not only the winner of season 2 but also the coordinates for Atlantis (which coincidentally happens to be under Samsung Stadium).

She pulled out some smash Edge guarding shit right there.

I’m sorry, what does the way they’re portrayed have to do with how far they make it? It’s not like they’re voted off I mean shit…

At this point I don’t see the competition being scripted, not even a little bit. I think some of it has been up until now but at the point where you hit the gauntlet they kind of have to let the gamers take it seriously, it’s $100k.

Also, even if it is scripted, consider how many “villains” have made it to finals/won reality shows before… Alot.

I’m guessing Faye and Justin weren’t necessarily all that chummy on the set of Street Fighter High.

So what was with the joysticks being shown for this weeks episode? haha

Alright, so they’re filming the final 2 next friday at WCG in LA. Obviously we won’t know who is in it until thursday, but I’m buying tickets to go (they’re like $6 a pop for 1 day with the code from their website) so I can go and support Justin in case he makes it. Any other SRKers from LA down? We have to yell a well timed “Let’s go Justin!” during some silence

I don’t think Jwong is going to make it, he’s shown that he really doesn’t know much outside his genre. If the gauntlet is similar to last season, Jwong won’t survive the 9 hours of Halo or whatever FPS they are making them play for 9 hours. If it was super street fighter IV for 9 hours, he might have a chance.

If there are going to be physical challenges, Wong’s in trouble. The other three guys are a lot more athletic than Wong.

Also, the rock-climbing challenge was an eff you to the girls. Not to say there aren’t great women climbers out there, but these three girls in particular were so obviously mismatched. Last week’s paintball and problem solving, and even the simulated video game driving, seemed to give each player a better chance of winning. But overall, the challenges seem to put the girls at a disadvantage, and if it continues, the girls will be in a similarly bad position as Wong.

FightSticks? Where?

Ceas to tha Deez.

Callin Jake out on being an online warrior, I dig, he knows MW2 is complete ass.

here we go again
the whole house is against kat
will they ever learn?

It doesn’t have to be scripted and how they’re eliminated is irrelevant. They film all the footage of the show, and at this point they have everything except the finals since that’s live. Then they edit it, compressing large amounts of time into a 40 minute show. , and they can show pretty much whatever they want. So, the important thing is that the editors know the result before they have to edit everything. Reality shows have been on the air for quite a while, so by this point the editors also know what people like to see. The result is some reasonably consistent patterns.

As far as villains winning, yeah, it does happen. Admittedly, the only other reality show I watch is Survivor, but there’s generally a big difference in how “villains” who win are portrayed versus the “villains” that lose. You can see Parvarti in Fans versus Favorites and Russell in Samoa for examples of the former and latter respectively.

So, they show Jake losing his temper twice. The editors didn’t have to show that, but they did. They show Justin saying he’s giving bad advice to Faye, and they also show his justification for it. They didn’t have to show the justification. Heck, they didn’t have to show the bit about Justin giving her bad advice either. But I think we can agree that Justin is being portrayed much more sympathetically than Jake is. Furthermore, the winner is still unknown, only the finalists are known. So my inclination is that if Jake had made the finals, they wouldn’t have shown his blow ups. After all, he might win, and they want you to like the winner so you’ll watch the next season, and so they would have probably selected clips that made Jake look better.

Admittedly, this is much more of a “meta” kind of analysis and it’s possible that I’m completely wrong and the finals is Yaz v Caesar or something. But based on what we’ve been shown, I think Kat, Rachael, and Justin are much more likely to be finalists than Yaz, Caesar, and Jake.

From my expert analysis, I think maybe Yaz and Kat are going to make it. Justin in general doesn’t get enough airtime so he’s not a strong personality. Yaz is basically like Rob of Season 1 who was portrayed as the ultimate gamer but didn’t win.

Pretty funny.
