Ways to improve my game with Ken on 3s

I learn Ken just so I can know how to stop him in 3s…so that when I play a Ken a smile comes on my face…so yes I know how to play him though I REFUSE TO…
That way when it is Yun vs. Ken I know what I’m up against.

I mean you dont have to go to 50 tournaments or so just to see that Ken is “pretty popular” and get a grasp of what people do with him…

IMO for casuals even I’d rather play a low tier character than Ken…bc even in casuals you see him “pretty often” which just makes me sick…but thats just me folks I know many of you beg to differ and I truly respect that.

But yes I do agree totally with what Dreaded Fist said about ken being fundamentals etc…

besides as I said…learning Ken helps you learn HOW TO FIGHT HIM…since you will be seeing a lot of him…be it in tournaments or not…that is a fact…

Please shut up.

“please come in and see my ken fight and tell me what im doing wrong”

“omg I hate ken and tired of seeing ken”

“I only learn ken to know what im against”

Playing against ken is what you are going to learn than playing with him. WTF do you need to learn about ken?? He has had the same moves since you were born kid. Play against him, not learn to play him… sheesh…

stop wasting your time and learn ibuki biotch.

Dude shut up bc I PLAY IBUKI…bam…eat that…thats who I play casuals with mostly…

Hahahah lol.

oh damn you got me…

ROFL!

holy crap i didnt want a Ken flame war:sad:

look what you’ve done!!!

:lovin:

A good rushdown Ken is always kind of fun to watch though. A turtling Chun or a Urien without mad skills and flashiness (hehe yeah) is way more boring. Yun is also sooo lame to watch.

ok just to clarify things to ppl.

chun li gets meter, she then walks up within kara throw/cmk range and will either kara throw you, or when you get smart and try to tech her throw, she presses c.mk to punish ur whiffed throw, boom super. because of the fear of the super chun gets like a million throws, and yes it is pretty game breaking as outside of GJ/ageis its probably the dumbest mixup in 3s.

Oddly enough, that’s how she plays in ST too. Only that it’s not even close to half as gay. SF2 > SF3.

Have you ever seen Pyrolee play? Or KO?

^ we’ve all seen them play, and yes they kick ass.

But watching Yun steamroll over everyone and see the other guy lose because there are green shadows on the screen gets old after a while.

Although, watching someone parry their way out of genei-jin or get out of Yun’s tricks is VERY entertaining.

Amen Epsilon…thank you for making that point clear to everyone about Chun-Li(someone that has witnessed and died to this shit knows what the hell I am talking about here)…it may look easy to stop but TRUST ME IT AINT…its like choose the way you wanna die…quickly via the Cr. Mk/B+Fierce xxsa2 or slowly via the KaraThrow!!! It is pretty game breaking…its what makes Chun deadly when she has meter…

Parry Yun to get out his tricks or just st. jab out the overhead…

there is nothing wrong with using ken in fact when everyone first plays 3s they should learn ken because he’s easy to use and nobody wants to start off losing badly. once you get use to 3s’s system then you should switch to a character that fits your style. how long have you been playing 3s?

well, ive been playing 3s for about couple weeks on the Dreamcast. And now ive picked up on the PS2 and been playing it for about a week. I stopped playing with Ken and moved on to a more interesting character, Q:lovin: Although im sort of decent with him i still get my ass handed by my friend when he gets me in the corner spamming UOH and low sweeps.

When you have meter with Q, just do SA1 after blocking a sweep. There’s lots of time for a reversal and it’s a simple way to teach your friend to play more cautiously. So you’ll both be getting better once you start punishing those gay sweeps. Maybe you could read some of the Q threads in the strategy forum too.

yeah i read the stickies in the Q threads and its very good stuff. I also saw the vid of Kuroda owning Ricky Ortiz and Justin Wong with Q and all i have to say is that he has a gawdly Q:lovin: it would take me months of playing just to pull that kind of stuff:sad:

some quick and dirty anti-Ken stuff for Q

use his best anti air, his back and mp, to stop Ken from hopping in on you. also useful is far mk as a back-off sort of thing, also lp-dash punch is good to keep Ken wary of rushing in on you. jumping is risky, but if you can bait a DP, try and land an EX dash punch, then normal dash punch, then taunt. matter of fact one of your goals in this match is to get three taunts out as soon as possible because then if he even manages to land a Shippu combo on you the damage will be pretty shitty. try and get a close mk xx SA1 or just close mk xx EX QCB+P if you can, it’s especially good if Ken keeps getting in your face. from midscreen though once you have taunts out you can try lp dash punch to get in, tick with lp then do Capture and Blow before he can retaliate, then EX dash punch, dash punch, then taunt / ground mixup between UOH or close mk or tick into another CaB.

I would like to see Diago play with Ryu using Shin Shoryuken or Denjin. I really think with his mind he could “change” the tier list in 3s however Diago plays soooo many games I dont think he has the time to deditacte his time to make Ryu really good so to stay up with the other top players he uses Ken.
