Wave dashing video

here is a video i uploaded with absolutely no editing. actually i just learned pinnacle studio right before it was uploaded to youtube.

tekkaman and megaman are 2 characters that benefit substantially from wave dash, there are others, and i will make videos of them. depending on the results from this forum and/or the video comments itself i will explain how to wave dash with ease of motion, performing the wave dash needs a little more intuition.

forgive me, but isn’t that just repeated IADs? or is there a way that you’re stopping your character’s motion?

also, remember that a bunch of people call the 669 technique a “wavedash”

if you want to call it another name be my guest. my friends said call it a devil dash, but that would be just too vain wouldn’t it.

a side note i have no idea what 669 is, i dont understand the number talk on tvc, and i dont care either, i’m old fashioned and i’ll stay that way.

Devilsephiroth1, here is an explanation on 669:

If you look at the numberpad on your keyboard, and imagine it as a directional input, 6,6,9 would mean (forward, forward, forward up). Its a quicker way to note down input, though its confusing to understand at first.

I know you aren’t interested, but I hope this makes it easier to understand.

whut Dori meant, these are just repeated IAD’s. And just in case u didn’t know:

IAD = Instant Air Dash

thank you all for your helpful info, actually i heard of the number system back in soul calibur 2, i just forgot. and for iad’s my friends all told me, and yes its an IAD, but the input is different.

an IAD would be - jump, dash, attack.

this “wave dash”(needs another name) would be jump>cancel>dash>cancel>attack.

this requires a stick, and button configuration. change button A for the L,M,H (light medium heavy) input.

short jump is canceled by using this button, i recommend button A because its sits between M, and H attack.

try and tell me what you think. PLEASE???

Depending on the character and the attack performed, they recieve a momentum boost for this, if the character does not receive any momentum or significant change in their gameplay, then its not beneficial.

those who are beneficial would be like
tekkaman
megaman
zero
ryu
yattergirl
yatterboy
casshern
v.joe
soki
batsu

others like

t. blade
doronbo (her gang is called the doronbo gang)
frank

have almost no benefit, and the rest of the cast recieve little to no benefit

like karas
gatchaman (all 3)
roll
alex

they’re about the same either way

ryu, soki, and zero all recieve a different property in their wave dash, because it allows them a crossover ability depending on the right combo. (which i’ll never fucking tell .fuck them characters, i cant let that secret out).

Ok, I see what’s happeneing here! What your doing is not a “wavedash”! Wavedashing is done on the ground to gain and it’s canceling a dash into a dash so you can gain distance quicker!

What you’re doing is IAD’ng, then jump canceling the the normal you’re using to gain the momentum! Trust me this is not character specific and it isn’t attack specific! I discovered this a long time a go, but didn’t post about it cause I didn’t feel it was that important! Basically when you do an air dash, doesn’t even have to be an instant one, if you jump cancel it into and attack at the very end of the dash, you’ll gain a signicant speed boost at the end of the dash as you approach the floor! It’s just a jump canceling “glitch” if you will! You can also use the same idea at the beginning of your air dash to stop the dash short if you like! To execute it, you simply air dash, then press up and any attack together at the beginning or end of you air dash! Hope that clarify’s things!

Thats not wavedashing thats Tri-Jumping.

good so its not called wave dash. its like an iad, but doing an iad isnt as fast as this, i’m doing the dash with a button execute, so what should this be called then. my friends suggested wave dash cause its similar to the mvc2 wave dash like magneto and storm.

All your doing is Tri-Jumping there is a name for this already.

whats the input for tri jumping vs. iad.

Wait so it is discovered? :o

Tri jumping you quickly use a move to stop your IAD animation and do another IAD and just repeat that. IAD your just canceling your jump animation and doing a dash close to the ground.
IAD 8 xx ABC
Tri Jump input
8 xx ABC xx (insert button input) xx 8 xx ABC xx (insert button input)
If you didn’t know Tri - jump is just short for Triangle jump cause your character is jump and landing in a Triangle motion.

Thnx premium for your helpful info. I will call it tri jumping now. I use a stick with button configuration for cancelling the dash faster, since I started learning tri jump I made my tekkaman faster, I would like 2 see if there’s any other faster tekkaman.

Tekkaman does need tri-jumps but not for speed mostly for mixups. Get a knock down and do a fast IAD B as your Oki.

Regardless of what these really are I found these quite helpful so as I newbie player I’ll just start practicing haha.
