Was KOF NeoWave really that bad a game?

PS2 port has some slowdown issues during gameplay especially in second to final stage (steam room). Besides this game is one of the worst in the history of the franchise (regardless of the fact that it was more of a test run for the atomiswave hardware than an actual dream match)

2 questions…for knowledgeable people only:

1. Why is Rugal banned on the home port? Outside of “He’s not in the arcade version” that is. He seems very tame and neutered this time around.

2.Why does every KOF thread in this forum have to become a popularity contest? Example: “The thread named KOF 97…why?” If you like the game, fuck what other people say about it and just make a real thread for it…you may help someone else out who likes it too.

eh? he’s exactly 2k2 boss rugal, just with lower damage. same retarded frame data, same properties, same infinites plus a new (really useful) one in GB mode.

EDIT: Found the “new” fireball one. Outside of the corner, it’s impossible and in the corner, shit is hard as hell to keep up, at least on Ps2.

I thought Omega Rugal Neowave was actually playable… No uber fast Kaiser wave, Slow as hell Genocide cutter start-up. slow pokes etc. but since you brought him up some questions.

1. How effective is his performance here overall in a players hands compared to a playable Young Geese (not the boss mode)

2. Where does he rank in terms of effectivity compared to the “other” Rugals

• The Broken ones: 2k2, 2k2 UM, 98 and 98 UM
• The Playable ones: CvSPro, CvS2, KOF 98 UM
• The Pathetic ones: CvS1, KOF 98

I don’t see how you count these as Rugal by KOF/SNK standards but…I would like to know what he thinks about the NeoWave Rugal because the only fucked up things I can see with him is trying to roll past him when he’s doing Kaiser Wave but that’s almost like Chang’s thing when you try to roll past or jump over him when he’s doing the charge ball.
