Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Good catch lol. In portugese Hombre Blanco turns into Homem Branco I think. Or something like that.

I was wondering, can any fully translate Rainbow Mika’s banner in the background of her stage? I can only “read” the katakana:

[Kanji][Kanji][Kanji]50[Kanji][Kanji]Puroresuringushoo

And the slew of tiny kanji beneath it. Just wondering.

Well, I can’t read any Japanese at all, but “Puroresuringushoo” Translates into “Pro-Wrestling Show” I think.

Puro - pro
resuringu - wrestling
shoo - show

Yeah, I pretty much guessed that since it was in Katakana, thus equaling “Engrish”. However, this makes it easier since I don’t need to translate it now.

In SLIGHT defense of “Branco” - The letters “L” and “R” seem almost interchangable or sound alike in Japanese. Examples off the top of my head - once saw Video Game art by the Evangelion artist entitled “Fatal Fuly” and I’ve also seen the Anime “Fooly Cooly” called “Furry Curry.”

Overall, Blanka is still a better name than Lawrence Blood who’s suppose to be from Spain.

Here I am, with once again, another bizarre occurence that could possibly NOT exist (And is probably one of the stupidiest things I’ve ever said on the thread).

Cap of USA wanted to refer to Guile when they translated Slammasters 1, however, when they realized “We fucked up big time.”, they probably made Dean a “famous street fighter” too! (Without considering that Skull Cross had brutally murdered his family. Someone should check if Dean is a famous street fighter in the Japanese version of Final Fight Tough).

And also, in the series of “Unlikely Candidates to be Q”, I bring to you, DEAN!

He’s mysterious, supposedly not completely human, then why not bring back the character even LESS human than he was before!

Okay, so that was stupid, but anyway…

Also, wouldn’t the Bushin style be quite young to only have had 39 masters? Considering that the title changed hands 2 times in less than 20 years (I think, but Zeku doesn’t seem THAT old and Genryusai musn’t have been that old to have Maki being younger than Guy). Therefore, that just screws even further the prophecy of Bushin. Probably some old tale the 1st master of Bushin told himself to gratify his style more.

People wonder if Dean’s even human or part human, but that has yet to be made into a concrete fact. For all we know, he just wields ki in the form of electricity like Benimaru. I’d be surprised as hell if he wasn’t purely human, not to mention if he came back in the form of Q. It’d be nice to see him make a comeback, though.

Hey, that reminds me… if Q’s enigmatic appearance is hintful enough that he could be on Ryu’s level, what about Dean and his mysteriousness? Does that mean he’ll always be at least a tier higher than Guy and Cody no matter what tier THEY’RE in? Just a thought.

Point to Grenade Falcon on this one. I only exist in this thread to pull completely off-the-wall theories out of my ass. But hey, makes more sense than Balrog being Q, don’t you think?

Maybe so, but my comment about your Q theory was mostly rhetorical. But you’re right, it is sensible enough as a possibility.

Kind of off topic, but a very interesting post made by Iggy over at Madman’s Cafe. I edited the post slightly.

"About a sequel to Vampire (Darkstalkers): in my beloved interview made after CVS1 (Yes, the one where they talked about Clark, Human Gallon and everything else I keep ranting about) there was a question “Why do you begin CVS2 instead of __ (I don’t know what sequel the guy said)?” and the Capcom guy answered: “Let’s be very clear: SFZero (SF Alpha) is finished, SF3 is finished, Marvel Versus series is finished and as we said many times, Vampire series is finished.”

Quote from Iggy - “Maybe it’s because the boss of the project (Vampire) is gone, or maybe they think they can’t top Savior, but he was really clear about that.”

Ouch. That leaves Capcom vs SNK 3, Street Fighter 4, Rival Schools 3, Power Stone 2 and Star Gladiator 3 (yeah right) as possible sequels.

Sad to hear that about Vampire though. It’s certainly Capcoms coolest series.

An irrevelant fact in the grand scheme of things I picked up while playing Mighty Final Fight (Non-canon whatsoever, but hey, if the Versus series count on getting character personalities down, I don’t see why this can’t).

Abigail might be gay. His throw move is grabbing you and kissing you on the cheek. Considering that Mighty Final Fight only had Guy, Haggar and Cody…

It’s something I found out while playing it. Most probably not true, but you never know.

 You sure he isn’t just biting and the game makes it sound like a kiss? Or do you actually see his lips puckering up?

I’m thinking any gay connotations for Abigail are a joke on his name. Or possibly him being gay is the full joke.

There were some pretty good screenshots in Nintendo Power awhile back. You could definitly see his lips puckering up.

I’ve been playing SF3 Second Impact in a seemingly endless attempt to view all the dialogs with the Mid Bosses. Here’s Alex’s dialog with Ken.

Ken: " You look like a decent sparring partner. So, how about it?"

Alex: “I’ve got to start somewhere… so I may as well start with you!”

These two officially did not fight in the SF3 Tourney, but the dialog is kind of interesting. Ken’s quote emphasizes his search for Ryu since he’s looking for a sparring partner. Alex doesn’t seem to think of Ken too highly, despite the U.S. Martial Arts Tourneys Ken’s won.

More stuff -

  1. Alex’s winner to loser quote to Ryu: “Your fighting spirit is pure… it’s something worth having!”

  2. Alex’s winner to loser quote to Ken: “Your burning fist and fighting spirit…I’ve seen it before!”

  3. Alex’s winner to loser quote to Urien: “I thought you were my arch-rival! It seems I was wrong… you sure do resemble him…”

Number 1 - It seems that Alex has a lot more respect for Ryu than for Ken.

Number 2 & 3 - Did Alex meet Gill before the Tourney? Did he show up for the end of Gill’s fight with Tom and see Gill walking away? I remember reading that somewhere. That would explain quotes 2 and 3 - him knowing Gill but not so much as to confuse Urien with him.

Newsflash! Only 12 years late!

Balrog is NOT Mike. Even though his name in Japan is Mike Bison, the Mike from SF1 is just another boxer (possibly also a parody of Tyson). I found this written by Chris from Dash Taisen and I respect his authority on the subject. So, I’ve made a quick change and apology on Fighter Mania.

Okay, this prompts so two questions:

  1. When did you find this out? How?

  2. Also, does this mean that the “M” in M. Bison doesn’t necessarily stand for Mike/Micheal now?

Okay, this prompts two questions:

  1. When did you find this out? When did you conclude it was correct?

  2. So does this mean that “M” isn’t neccesarily Mike/Micheal now?

What I was told was that Capcom of Japan denied that Balrog/M. Bison and Mike were one and the same when they realized the possible Mike Tyson lawsuit, even though the characters really were meant to officially be the same. Then from here on, they wouldn’t even admit what the M. in M. Bison stood for. But then come CvS2 (and perhaps earlier), they’ve finally admitted to it standing for Mike (CvS2 directly has it listed as Mike Bison in the Japanese version), so…

Actually, the above paragraph has pretty much been in the plot guide since the plot guide was first created and was still just an SFA3 plot guide. I suppose worse comes to worse, I could just list Mike as a separate character with a disclaimer that CoJ possibly made him and Balrog the same character without really stating anything like how Poison apparently got a sex change (though this is slightly less ambiguous), but there wouldn’t be much else since Mike and Balrog share the same story and background, and Capcom has never given a “where Mike is now” implication anywhere specifically for Mike (which would make sense since Mike was meant to be Balrog… unless my memory is really really off and the source, whatever it was, bad, though I don’t recall it being so)

I suppose that the possibility exists that even though Balrog and Mike were meant to be the same person originally but weren’t, but even though Capcom now finally admitted that Balrog/M. Bison really was Mike Bison, they still could be two different people but I’d be surprised.

At any rate, I’m positive beyond a doubt that Saiki stated that Balrog is Mike, at least. That’s one of the quotes from him that I actually still have saved in a text file of collected logs, after all. Course, I suppose it could have been stated just given consideration the first paragraph of this reply I’m making, in which case Balrog was not officially Mike for legal reasons but may be so now and… hmm, this could be almost as confusing as whether or not Poison got a sex change. Actually, it’s a pretty similar situation when I think about it…
