Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Vasili10 - You got them all. Thanks again!

Cool. So it looks like more proof that Gen is Yun and Yangs grandfather, but I don’t understand who this underworld bosses is. Do you think it could be Bison?

Mohammed Ali

Actually the site makes no connection that Gen is the grandfather of Yun and Yang. It writes “kung fu” with katakana (characters meant for non-Japanese or italicized words and also used for Fei Long’s style) which would imply that their grandfather’s a master in more generic martial arts (in comparison to labeling it the more revered “kenpo” for Chinese arts used for Lee and Chun Li before SFZ3 further specified her style as northern kenpo AKA Tai Chi) rather than Gen whom even before Gouki his fighting style was firmly labeled “ansatsuken.”

Wasn’t there something about Gen running a herbalist shop ???

Mohammed Ali

Might this be a reference to Vega’s rebirth after he blew up in SFZ3 and returned in SF2? Or in the crossover world, his return after the Big Ass Globe fell on him in CVS1/Pro?

That’s from English Eternal. I made some points a while back that there was likely a mistranslation there. Yun & Yang’s grandfather ran an herbalist shop, and that’s confirmed from Japanese text as early as SF3NG.

sano- that’s what I was thinking too. She senses that he’s different from when they met in SFZ2.

Gen had a restaurant (Genhanten, which Yun and Yang work at now?), not a herbal shop. The herbal shop was shown to be a mistranslation.

…I think. I forget. Don’t have access to the guide right now.

Okay thanks again. :nunchuck:

The herbalist shop is true, run by their grandfather, who is not Gen; the mistranslation is Gen being their grandparent.

In other news, I haven’t found yet that Zangief and Mayor Haggar are rivals which is held to be the first sign of co-existance between the SF and FF universes (aka they’re the same universe), but something that’s been documented in relations charts from as early as SF2 Dash and confirmed by AAC is that Guile’s daughter Chris’ dog Sub is pals with the dog Shiro from Final Fight. More on this when I get to translating the relationship charts.

:wow:

How is this even possible? Does Guile live anywhere near Metro City, um, er, what the? Do dogs even have ‘friends’ or just other dogs they don’t want to f**k up?

Well, his daughter doesn’t live anywhere near India to hang with Dhalsim’s kid, but at least they could write each other I guess. Ha, ha, this is starting to remind me of that new Krypto the Superdog cartoon where Krypto and Ace the Bat Hound are on… GASP! Speaking terms… BIG DOG!

I know, but it’s just there, and it happened to stick all the way into AAC from 1992. I agree though, who knows what they were on when making this connection. It’s Capcom. :wonder:

You’ve never heard of people rubbing statues of Buddha for good luck?

Speaking of Honda:

hahaha…hahaha.

Sano, your holiness: if you could somehow post up translations of Rose’s CFJ quotes vs/from Guy, Ryu, Chun Li and the new girl, I would be infinitely grateful.

This is almost poetic. Especially the first few lines.

Vasili10’s doing the translating, I’m just enlarging and sending him the quotes, he’s the holy one in this scenario. I sent him all of the above characters quotes already so I would just have to send him Rose…

WRONG!!! Read the plot guide.

WRONG!!! The thing about Yun and Yang working at Gen’s restaurant was your personal theory, btw. I’m pretty sure it isn’t fact.

CORRECT!!! vasili10 has the right idea.

WHOA!!! Calm down, I was only asking

I’ve read the plot guide and I don’t recall it making a mention of which underworld boss killed Yun and Yangs parents, hence any ideas?

Also, I remember someone saying Gen had a herbal shop. Tiamat is saying that was a mistranslation, and GD just said he’s wrong - so which one is right? GD or Tiamat?

Mohammed Ali

Someone put too much sugar into his caffeinated coffee this morning.

Zangief and Haggar being rivals is in the American SNES SF2 instruction booklet and also stated in Nintendo Power. Dunno where the Japanese sources for it would be (the confirmations and the specifics were provided by Saiki).

Mohammeda: I think GD thinks that I meant the herbal shop in its entirety was a mistranslation (which it wasn’t), not just that GEN owning the herbal shop was a mistranslation (which it was). Which I suppose I can see one making the mistake, but only if they put too much sugar into their caffeinated coffee that morning while waking up on the wrong side of the bed as someone stuck a pin into their likeness voodoo doll’s butt. :karate:

Capcom USA/American sources(i.e. the NA version of ‘Eternal’, GameSpot’s SF history page)seem to believe that Gen is Y&Y’s grandfather, while Japanese sources/Capcom Japan have never stated this and refer to him only as ‘grandfather’. According to Japanese sources, their grandfather doesn’t even have a name. For example, the US version of ‘Eternal’ states that Gen is their grandfather, that he raised them, and that he owns an herbalist shop. However, the Japanese version of ‘Eternal’ states the same thing except they don’t name their grandfather. All it says is something like, ‘Yun and Yang were raised by their grandfather in his herbalist shop’. The truth is that they WERE raised by their grandfather in Shanghai and he DID(or does) own an herbalist shop, BUT their grandfather ISN’T GEN(According to Japanese sources). vasili10 believes that the remark in US Eternal about Gen being the grandfather is an error on the translators’ part. He’ll explain why if he feels like it.

Yeah that is what I thought you meant.

That’s strange. I didn’t do any of those things. Perhaps I’m just retarded and should probably think before I start shooting off at the mouth? In any case, me = pwned. :china:

Hey Sano,I know you’re really busy these days,so by chance I stumbled on the first news article for NamcoXCapcom, with a short voice actor list. Here’s the link: NxC first voice actor list

Tiamat, you don’t have access to your own plot guide? Is this still the newest version?
