Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Necro’s Third Strike bio:
The mysterious organization continues chasing Necro and Effie, not giving them a moment of peace. Whenever they think theyve finally lost their pursuers for good, a black shadow appears before them and plucks away their last bit of hope. Still, Necro believes that he will attain true freedom some day.

Just a random question…

Joe homeless? Hmm… haven’t found any confirmation for that. At least the SF2 Fanbook and AAC both don’t say if Joe’s homeless. I’ll see if some older books say anything when they come in.

point to mostly aerialgroove: AASF3 The Characters is the way it is because it was meant as a “pre-Making of” book for SF3NG; it came out about 2 months before New Generation hit Japan’s arcades, so yeah AASF3 Fighting Bible is of course more comprehensive, which I now have as well.

Thanks for checking, vasili10. It’s probably just fan canon or whatever u call it. I was just curious. Btw, what exactly do the SF2 Fan book and AAC say about the SF1 characters? Is there any additional info 'bout them that isn’t in the FAQ?

Not very much is given for SF1 characters in AAC unless they appeared in other games as well. For one-time fighters AAC mostly says where they’re from, what style they use, the general things you’d learn if you play the game itself. For their coverage in the fanbook, check my summary (p.136 of the thread). Half pages for each fighter and still not much more than what we already know.

What both books say about Joe is that he’s a master of “back-strike” martial arts, which I interpret as using moves like the backfist which Guile often uses, and the Rolling Sobat which is a shorter version of Dee Jay’s Double Rolling Sobat (aka the Double Dread Kick).

Got the SFZ3 Gamest Mook (Vol. 159). It’s ok but there’s nothing special in it, only very very few sketches, some fan art and all endings and mid boss quotes in Japanese, the rest is game strategies.
On the cover it says “go foE broke”

Does Gill’s style have a name?

In the Plot Guide it says that Blanka’s birthplace is Brazil. Was this stated in any book or is it official? I know that Blanka’s stage is in Brazil and that the plane crash and the travel from the USA was made up by Capcom USA but I still wonder if he was actually born in Brazil.

The plane crash scenario was originally made up by CAPCOM USA, but I THINK (emphasis on think) CAPCOM Japan adopted the scenario later on. Maybe Jimmy wasn’t born in Brazil but Blanka was. His skin color changed and he was given the name Blanka while living in the jungles of Brazil.

I’ve seen Gill’s fighting style listed as either the “Fighting Techniques of the Mysterious Organization,” or “Secret Fighting Techniques”. Ditto for Urien. I don’t think there’s an official name Gill’s/Urien’s fighting style.
The only SF3 characters who have official names for their styles are Ibuki (Ninjutsu), Yun/Yang (Kung Fu), Dudley (Boxing), Oro (Senjyutu), Elena (Capoeira), Makoto (Some style of Karate), and Hugo (Wrestling).

Guile was a a 1st Liutenant during the Alpha series and a major during the SF2 series, correct?

Yes.

re: CFJ

The artwork is by Shinkiroh, and it’s actually good because it doesn’t look like every other piece of artwork she’s done since 1995 or so (it’s much closer to her original style, before she started painting everything, but a lot better).

CFAS was universally panned because it looked bad, played like the awful pedigree it possessed (i.e. a cross between EX and RS series), had way too small a cast with a bunch of unknowns, etc. Capcom and 3D fighters just don’t mix.

Going with 2D is a step in the right direction. It’s just that we were expecting, y’know, something new since it’s been three years since Capcom did something new. What they’ve shown so far isn’t much to get excited about really, but at least it has better prospects than the dismal CFAS.

Also:

Ingrid will be a headswap of Karin’s SFA3 sprite. And there will be no Midnight Bliss.

…Are you kidding me? All I can say is wow.
People usually judge things initially by their appearance, right? When I first saw the video for this game, my first impression was "Wow, this a piece of crap!"
I was stupid to think that CAPCOM would surprise me. For a little while I was thinking Gee, CAPCOM hasn’t released a NEW 2D fighting game in a little while. I wonder what’s up? My first assumption was that they were tired of making 2D fighting games and that they had given up on them. My second assumption was that they were working on something really big (preferably a BRAND NEW 2D fighter) and were keeping it under wraps. What we get is a semi-new, same-crap-in-a-different-wrapper, half-assed piece of garbage w/ recycled sprites. Unfortunately, SF4 is probably never coming and I’ll have to learn to accept that, but couldn’t it atleast be something new? What happened to CAPCOM?? It’s like no one there has a creative bone in their body.

couldn’t have verbalized it any better

any game of that type with less characters than MvsC2 (hey the huge amount of characters was something special at least) will be a step backwards. either it needs a story that makes sence or it needs let’s say 200 characters.

This is hysterical! Gotta love them lazy bastards!

I’m a sucker I’ll still play it/buy it… Course I also like SVC only 'cuz Ryu and Chun-Li are in it so don’t listen to me…

TAS said something over at the svc-capcom forums regarding how this is probably Capcom’s last 2D Fighter, hence the severe lack of work ooh…

You can read TAS’s Post here -

Hey don’t get me wrong. Don’t think I’m saying you shouldn’t try it out. You should definitely play it. In the end it’s the gameplay that really matters and if it’s ill, then do it up. It’s just that I’m sick of Capcom’s blatant laziness. C’mon the game doesn’t look even half-decent! None of their recent 2D fighters look all that impressive, but this takes the fuckin’ cake. Take a look at one screenshot and it’s sooo obvious that they’re not even trying.

Note: The Ingrid as Karin headswap thing is not serious. It’s something I made up, as is the “No Midnight Bliss” thing. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if either turned out to be true.

Hey, cut that out! We have more than enough reasons to call Capcom lazy!

In that background that has E.Honda, Dan and Makoto, there’s a Poster for the SF2 Animated Movie. Hauzer might consider buying a ticket to go watch it, LOL!

While CFAS was in no way an All Star Cast, their roster was a lot more interesting than this one, even if it’s more of an All Star Cast than CFAS was. All the Main Characters from their respective games are there (despite Morrigan’s overuse, Demitri’s always been the main character of Darkstalkers) except for one major one. We seriously needd Alex. not only because he’s the star of SF3, we don’t have any grapplers, unless you consider Leo a Grappler and he’s not really from what people say.

Anyway, next time Capcom tries to do a game like CFAS, PLEASE everyone support it or they will rehash Sprites yet again. While people complaining about this game is 50/50 on the net, people gripping about CFAS was 90/10 at best. Capcom obviously doesn’t want to make 2D Fighters anymore so if fans force them to they will be super lazy about it…

A lot of the griping that made Capcom cancel CFAS was probably not from any of the messageboards, but was from the beta testers themselves unanimously saying the game was boring and ugly. They weren’t even complaining about the roster despite it’s sub-parness because the rest of the game sucked so much that they had more than enough more important things to complain about the suckage about.

Definitely. Character roster aside, the game itself sucked. It’s no secret that CAPCOM can’t do 3D fighters for jack.

Well, I really like Rival Schools and Tech Romancer but that’s just me.
