What type of fat ps3 do you have, a 160 gb?
I have an 80gb model, and I was logged in since 2:00 pm this afternoon playing SFIV, until I logged out about an hour ago to see if I would get the problem like everyone else. Sure enough, I did.
This looks like a BIG problem for the PS3 and Sony. I hope not, but this look really bad right now.
I have a 60gb original ‘fat’ BC PS3. I can play SFIV offline but the game tells me that I can’t access any DLC, such as the alternate costumes. My saved data is still there tho. UNCHARTED2 is also working fine.
My date shows 12-31 tho. Very strange…
EDIT - maybe just a leap year problem. Should know by tomorrow.
Just a quick heads up for my friends on srk. Their is a ghetto fix. The bug is in the internal clock of the ps3. If you open your ps3 and disconnected the internal battery and reconnect it then the internal clock will reset and everything will go back to working normally. The only bad point is that if sony does not fix this via firmware then in theory you will have this problem again in 3-4 years.
Obviously those of you still under warranty should probably not open up their console.
Hate to burst your bubble but the Bad Company 2 demo hasn’t been avaliable for a few days anyway, they took down the servers for the demo like two days ago.
I only say this because I wanted to try out BC2 for the same reason =[

well, i tried to play nazi zombies right now and the 3 maps i downloaded are gone. i can’t play sfa, hdr, but could play mvc2 but its the fukin demo? wtf! hopefully sony fixes this quickly.

Sorry about this… I think I’ve caused this… Last night, I was playing SFIV online and pulled a pretty hard ultra combo totaling 70+ hits using Ken. After that, all hell broke lose, I couldn’t connect to PSN, or anything. I guess I’ll just have to go easy next time. I guess the servers didn’t know how to handle my combos… I guess this is Sony’s way of protecting other players from the shock and awe.

It needs to be re-iterated that this is clearly not a PSN issue. PSN cannot affect you’re offline console. It is most-def a Date issue. Or Sony is gonna charge us for PSN hahah.

Cant belive this shit i mean how the hell did they not forsee this problem?? Luckily for me i have been at work so my ps3 hasnt been turned on yet (i have also just unplugged it to be safe). What really annoys me is that you spend all that cash on the stupid console for some playschool bullshit like this to happen. And i can garantee if they cant fix it they will basically justs stick their fingers up at everyone and just say tough shit go out and buy a ps3 slim due to most poeple nolonger having a warrenty.
