Want to make a movie about fighting games. Needz help from gamers

My name is Christopher Mayfield and I’m writing a script about the fighting game community, but before I write the first word, I’d like to get an opinion from the community. What would you like to see in a movie about fighting games? What stories need to be told? Which game deserves to shine in front of the camera?

I don’t know what it’s like to be a competitive fighting game player, so what do you guys go through from day to day? What’s it like balancing E-sports with school or a day job? What’s it like to be sponsored? The traveling? Making yourself into a brand? Training for tournaments? Do you play tournaments? Or do you just play online? And tell me about playing online? Give me your opinions, tell me everything, I want to know as much about the FGC as I possibly can, because I’ve been fascinated with the FGC for a long time.

Have you seen SF Assassin’s Fist? If the movie can capture all of the lore whole heartily without being ashamed of the source material you’ve won in my book.

What’s your background?

I need to change the post. I want to do a game about the fighting game tournament circuits, the online community, I want to make a game about the players of the fighting game community.

As for myself, I’m a screenwriter looking to write and direct a movie about the fighting game community

So you just want to make an updated “Bang the Machine”.

Honestly the scene isn’t nearly as interesting anymore to do that style of documentary imo.

Bigger doesn’t mean bigger. The Fgc is a husk of what it once was.

Go find the local fighting game community in your area…and seek the top players.

They ain’t here.

I thought YouTube, the pro tour circuit and the sponsors would have made it grow? Do you know what happened?

What will I find on this forum?

Sooo… Fortnight?

It undeniably made it grow. Exponentially. That doesn’t mean it made it better though.

So in spite of the growth, what were the takeaways?

You can tell people didn’t learn jack from the last 10 years by the way they’re answering questions here.

This is a community place, not one where you extract information from for financial purposes. You want into for something, then you’re going to have to explain how this is going to benefit the community, not just your pocket. Feel free to PM or not. Either way this isn’t the place to pretend to do “research” by making a thread and then dipping out later.

Try spending some time actually participating if you want to learn anything.
