Want to know if your PC/video card is good enough for SF4? Read here

I’m glad i picked up SFIV for the PS3 then and not wait for the PC version. I think i probably would have gotten around 25-30 FPS on my specs but then if i’m going to a buddies house or casual console setups i’d be screwed. I rather get fixed 720P and fixed FPS than 1080P and random FPS.

Yeah, I was afraid the video card would be the weakest link. I wouldn’t mind being able to run the game with at least the minimum requirements for video RAM memory so I was thinking of upgrading the system RAM to its max (4GB I think). Would that help in allocating 128MB more memory to the video card to run at minimum while still having enough RAM to run the game?

Personally, I don’t recommend gaming on Vista with anything less than 3gigs of RAM. Vista takes up about a gig just running idle. I know SF4 only recommends 2gigs and Vista, but, well, I’d rather play it safe with that.

Still though, I hesitate telling you to go upgrade your RAM when you may or may not be able to get SF4 to run on your system due to your vid card.

Do you have any friends who are thinking of getting SF4 on Steam? Or picking up the retail version? If you have Steam on your system, you could let a friend who owns SF4 on Steam to log in on his account, DL the game, then try to get it to run on your system.

Also, clean up your hard drive! Having that little free space is bad for performance.

My laptop:

Vista
Intel Duo Core 1.5 GHZ
Geforce 8600M GS
2.0 GB of RAM

I’m worried that my 1.5 GHZ CPU is going to be a problem. I can run games like Half-Life 2 quite smoothly, Left 4 Dead not so much – just to give an idea.

I never played SF4 and I want to start with this bundle since it’s a great deal, but only if I can run it smoothly. So any help would be appreciated.

do 3danalyzer or programs like that help the game?

The specs are fine, the only thing that might be slowing you down is the CPU. If you experience some slow downs try lowering the resolution.

Nice thread! Here’s another list of GPUs which could be useful if people are considering upgrading their desktops to play SF4. It even includes filters for price ranges…

The minimum required GPUs (6600 GT and x1600) are really, really low on the list… hell, even the cards the recommended cards for SF4 are really affordable right now.

The list will probably become more useful when the game is out and people can actually describe the performance they’re getting out the game with various GPUs/specs.

I think I should be fine, only thing that worries me is my graphics card which is a 8600GT, but not certain of the amount of RAM on the card. And even if the RAM is 512MB it probably won’t be able to run with all the effects on, then again I probably should look at updating my graphics card anyway.

I actually already have the PC version and mainly ordered this for the control pad. after getting frustrated for months, I finally pre-ordered this from Capcom’s US site (I’m actually in the UK) only to find my mate who has his own ebay shop got the controllers in stock a week after I pre-ordered it.

Month away from release bump.

I’ve been holding out for the PC release myself as I don’t have a PS3 / X360. With a Core2Duo E6300,7600GT, 2GB DDRII 667, that’s good enough for me.

The beauty of the PC is flexability. It’s a neutral platform which everyone’s sticks will work with. I use the Ultimarc Mini-PAC (www.ultimarc.com) keyboard encoder for my arcade controls, and it’s been pining for the game since it was announced. It’ll be fun to see an Xbox360 pad vs. PS3 pad to settle the score between them once and for all…:stuck_out_tongue:

woooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo

Exclusive to the PC version of the game, three visual shaders based on the “artistic” trailers give a new look to the gameplay: Watercolor, Poster, and Sumi-E ink styles
