Communication is indeed key. I’ve seen users on other trading forums with 1000’s of positive transactions turn tail once they took in a few thousand off of people. All it takes is an update every couple of days to let buyers know what’s going on. Heck, if you’re working on a bunch of things at one time, start a blog and send it to everyone.
dyamn 500 bucks for a stick that takes months to complete?! I would be worried shitless. I’m a seller also and honestly it’s not hard to log on SRK to at least keep your buyers updated. If you’re taking that much cash, at least keep them posted once a week or give them an estimated time of completion. I don’t mean to be disrespectful but i feel that thats the least you could do if you’re doing business.
Well, it was two sticks actually. Furthermore, these aren’t just sticks. They’re Byrdo Sticks. Byrdo is an artist, and an incredibly talented one at that. His sticks are far beyond any other sticks I’ve seen here or at JoystickVault, with a few possible exceptions (I’m thinking about Big Pockets).
I’m not happy about not being told what’s going on for more than a month, but I also think it’s important for everyone to realize that Byrdo is, for lack of a better term, the best in the business.
Even though he has communication problems, I just don’t want this guy to get a bad reputation on SRK. For all we know, he could be seriously hurt or experiencing economic problems.
If anyone is interested, I’ll keep you all updated with this situation (and hopefully, show you the sticks when they’re done.)
EDIT: I appreciate your comments though guys, and would still like it if the other people Byrdo is doing business with would contact me.

yo, you got the right to be worried, Dude you are talking about $500 bucks man, it could be the God of the Stick makers, and i would be emailing him like 5 times a day for that kind of money. and like everybody else said, communication is the key.
Yeah, for sure, and I am worried. I’ve resorted to contacting people on his Myspace (which isn’t working out) and am contemplating sending someone to his house or actually going there myself. Really fucking sucks, especially because I have a brand new PS3 and SF4/3S/A3/HD sitting there doing nothing.
I just didn’t want the final post regarding Byrdo to be negative, especially when nobody knows for sure what’s up. If he’s being flat out negligent, I’m sure as hell gonna let people know. But if he’s injured, abducted (he lives in NM) or dead, it’s not his fault.
I never said he had no rite to worry I was hopping to help him worry less since we’ve dealt with him before and it’s always been a pain to get a hold of him but nobody I know has ever been ripped off by him. Do you have his number if not I could pm it to you maybe that would help. And putting him and Dj matrix in the same paragraph under the wall of shame thread is comparing them even if you say "I’m not comparing them"you still did. Coatl I am trying to help though so pm me if you need a number I’m sure someone here has it if you don’t.
Rugedman, that’s how I interpreted your post, and it actually did make me feel a lot less worried.
I’m realizing now that Byrdo is just very swamped with orders. I just noticed that on the 8th he updated his site with 9 new sticks, not including the 2 I ordered. So he’s been working on 11 different sticks, and I’m sure everybody who ordered those sticks is emailing him like crazy, if not calling and sending letters also. I imagine he’s under a lot of stress because of it.
Sucks that he accepted so many orders at once, and it sucks that he’s not the best at communication, but that’s just the way it is, so whatever. With that being said, everyone, keep in mind when ordering from Brydo to be patient, but know you’re getting some dope fucking sticks.
man this guy wasted my fucking time ReXXXSoprano dont fuck with him! i went all out my way to mod this TE stick.it was my friends juans stick but he got mad at it and fucked it up to the point were it was in parts. i took all the parts and put them back together. fixed the buttons he tried to break. i had missing screws that i had to go out and buy. the original pcb didnt work. i was so glad he didnt stomp on it. he tried smashing the stick also but thank god nothing happen to it. so i spent alot of time on this stick and he was like yea i want it and i got the money. i had 2 ppl so far ask me to sell it to them. im not fucked up so i keep my word and i didnt sell the stick to them cause ReXXXSoprano said i got the money when you finish ill buy if form you. i just finished today and i pm’ed him. he was like yea ill send you the money through paypal when i get home from work. he pm’ed me back talking about his wife is mad at him and he cant buy it now cause it was behind her back!WTF!!! i had to order so many parts that took forever to come and i had to buy a madcatz pcb and a cthulu-whatever (sp) with a switch to this mod. i know there are other ways but whatever the point is he fucked me cause i needed that money. so dont fuck with that guy he is a waste of time fucking period

Like I said before, this guy is not on SRK, but he is part of the fighting community, so I figured it was important to let everyone know exactly how my transaction went, in case they decide to try and buy from him.
I payed Byrdo half on January 5th and the other half on January 24th for 2 sticks. I received them 3 days ago, June 9th. That is almost 6 months. The only updates I received are the ones I had to ask him for, several times on some occasions. For the entire month of April, and half of May, Byrdo was not in communication with me. I emailed him many times, and even wrote a letter to his house. 3 times he stated he would send me pictures at a certain time, but never did. Twice he said he would ship on a certain date, but never did. He finally informed me they were enroute, but I had to email him 3 days after the expected delivery date, because they hadn’t arrived. The next day they showed up, and I’ve heard nothing from Byrdo.
Now, one should also keep in mind after reading this that I am COMPLETELY satisfied with these sticks. In fact, they are the best sticks I’ve ever laid my hands or eyes on, and I’ve owned 2 Dreaded Fist’s (DJ Matrix’s benefactor), played on Finkle’s, as well as most of the factory made sticks out there.
So all around: Communication = TERRIBLE. Customer service = TERRIBLE. Quality = Unbeleivable. I would really consider buying another stick from this guy, but becuase of the former two points, I most certainly will not.

Think I’ll add Finkle to the list. Questionable… No, shitty quality for $200+ sticks. And he won’t reply to your emails if you have a problem.
Finkle has been dealing for years with hospital trips, work and family problems. And still manages to bust out some damn fine quality stick. If you are serious when you say yours was shitty quality then I’m sorry but you’re a moron. Unless it was damaged in transit. Finkle is easily top 3 custom stick builder. His quality and his work arre impeccable. Yes there’s somewhat of a communication delay but he’s never screwed anybody and he’s not about to start.
Seriously, you’re going to have to elaborate on your own personal situation because right now it’s the word of someone who’s been here 6 months…against the hundreds of people with Finkle sticks and the man himself who’s been here for years.
