hey im having trouble landing the wall dive… like most of the time it does that claw slash and like only one time i landed the izuna drop or w.e its called. tips and tricks would help, appreciate it.
just practice on in training…some people go by the sound of Vegas yodel, some by his animation, but either way, you just have to get the timing right. Try leaving your joystick in neutral untill you are very close and then press a direction and p
The range at which you can grab off a walldive is very small. Practice a lot and hit the grab as late as you can before you’ve hit the ground.
The izuna drop has a modest range but you are flying so fast that usually it’s difficult to time right until you get the hang of it. You have to get closer than you do with the regular claw slash. The izuna drop is only initially active for a single frame, where the claw slash is active for a full 11 frames. You are used to throwing the claw out early and gliding into the opponent, but for the izuna to land you have to be practically humping their entire character before you hit the final button.
Imagine you are attacking another Vega (your opponent happens to be doing a standing medium kick). For the claw to hit, the solid-red boxes of the slash must intersect the green-outlined box of your target at least once during the 11 frames the attack is active. For the izuna drop to connect, your solid-blue box must immediately intersect the smaller (harder to hit) blue-outlined box of your target.
For the izuna to come out, you need to also be holding left or right while pushing the final button. If you aren’t holding a direction, a double claw-swipe will come out if you are using the EX version (useful for dealing with focus attacks). Practice with the EX version because if you get neither the double swipe or the izuna drop when doing it, you know you simply are not close enough.

(I was close enough but too far to the left from where I wanted. I was trying to time my grab so that Sagat’s reversal would go to the right and I would go behind as I sailed overtop)
