I think the wiki guide is wrong about them not having special properties.
I’ve done some experimenting with turning on wakeup attacks for the AI in practice mode and, at least for Jade, they seem to work like enhanced versions. Her flash move prevents hitstun from normal attacks like her enhanced version, and her staff throw slams the victim three times like her enhanced version.
Has anyone else noticed this being true for other characters?
afaik certain moves do gain invincibility when used as a wakeup, though. sub-zero’s slide, for example. i’m sure that every character has at least one, possibly more moves with that property.
I couldnt play online and test things out, but how is the wakeup game in general in mk9? Somehow i find it harder than in SSF4 to pressure on wake up. It seems there are tons of reversal moves. Jumping on a floored opponent doesnt seem to work at all. Instead of 2 different recoveries, in MK9 the knocked down player has 3 different recoveries. So after a few hours of playing, its seems the knocked down player hasnt much of a disadvantage.
The podcast you’ll find in the Tom Brady thread goes over certain things that isn’t common knowledge yet. Every character has at least one wake up that is invincible.
correct. IIRC, Liu Kang’s low fireball, Kitana’s square wave, Reptile’s slide and Cage’s flip kick all have invincibility on wake-up. also, if you choose to lay on the ground after a knockdown. your wake-up attack loses it’s invincibility.
