Oscar - Yeah EGS we will be there. 3S Laptop will be there! so bring your stick.
Jess - Yes we will be there at EGS. Bring your copy of SSFIV and a stick. We should be fine with setups.
I’m not going to Seasons beating. I thought Wong and I gave our thumbs down already. Up to anyone else if they want to make the drive out. I won’t be going and I’m sure Wong feels the same.
Blog update - Batch of Videos #2 of weekly session #6 will be up. (That’s videos from two weeks ago).
Stay Tuned.
Howdy, it’s Ira.
It was nice meeting/seeing you guys again a couple weeks ago. I’ll practice more so next time so to vids of me playing aren’t all losing matches. Not sure when I’ll visit next but the games were fun. I’ll have to learn to stop jumping so much and get more crafty like wong’s dudley.
Thanks for having me.
Ira - Ira!! was nice meeting you man. I forgot to mention that I was always the chun that played you online when I was over Gary’s place haha. I liked your dudley very much. It kept me thinking because I’m so use to Wong’s dudley; really helped me so I thank you for that! I’ll be sure to get better so I can give you a tougher match next time!
Also, the videos of you playing are up so you should check those out!
Come back when you can! was fun playing with you!
Hey Ira, it’s Dave. It was nice playing with you, we had a lot of good matches. Well, I look forward to playing with you again sometime.
Running Wild: yeah, I’m hoping we have a meetup tonight, but as of now it’s pending. They’ll call me, and I’ll IM you. I have to ask if you can come, since you’re new.
We did have a small get together last night at Jason’s place. It was pretty late and I didn’t want to call anyone to come and play for an hour or two. Plus there were tons of people and we only had one setup so there wasn’t a lot of playtime.
Don’t fret, we’re going to be having a session next week at our usual times. Wednesday nights too if you can make it up to RIT.

Plus, I was talking to everyone last night and got a good idea on where and when I want to do ranbats. We’re going to be doing it monthly (try to) at either Paul/Abe’s, that same location we had last time Shi hosted (depending on how much luggage we’re carrying), and possibly EGS since there’s tons of players I can just throw in the sign up loop. Keep it alive and take after Phil’s work (hopefully). So I’m just giving you guys an idea on how I want the Ranbats to happen. I will, most likely, start Ranbats next month. Having this month to give me time to plan everything out.
Hopefully next time I’ll do better with combos, gary just told me about plunking, or plinking something like that. also I don’t understand how option selecting works. how does ryu j.rh then os into either uppercut or combo?
Another random question, say for example gary knocks you down after a long combo, while you’re getting up you could do your safest move say uppercut, but you know he’s predicting that, but he also has enough time to react, do you still try go on the offensive?
Ira - Yeah, P-linking is definitely good to use/get use to. I do it all the time on Chun and it helps me know the timing on her jab jab fierce combo. I’m not too great in explaining Option selecting, maybe one of these guys can show/tell you!
On Akuma, What I try to do when I get knocked down from Gary is that I see what he does next. In my head, I’ve already mapped out what I can before he makes his move. He usually does his demon flip, what I can try to do is standing roundhouse; It may stuff him or trade depending on my timing on what he chooses to do. If he’s standing and going for some footsies. I try my best to see the milisecond in between hits and try to stuff it out with a jab or fit in something to push him back like a down back roundhouse on block. It’s tough but It helps me out on what I need to read. My opinion, learn what options he has for messing with you on your wakeup and try to find counters against it. If not, try blocking and wait for the end of his combo. There’s always a second where you can put something in to either push him back or end the round with a fierce combo. Be patient. Not just for Gary, but for anyone knowing the wake up options. Least that’s what I try to do.
Just a heads up: I’ll probably not go to EGS tomorrow night. Humans vs Zombies mission is going on at 9:00PM. Well, I can probably go there at 8, play for an hour, then come back for my stick at 11. That is, I kinda don’t want to leave it.
Oscar - aww. Well We’ll still have the 3S laptop. We might have more players coming along this time for 3rd Strike so would be nice if you
could stop by when you can. I’ve got speakers this time!
Should I bring my stick? I mean, if I don’t make it there, at least watch it until I get back at 11? I’ll try to find someone who I can trust and watch my stick just in case I don’t get back. I’ll try to leave much earlier, depending on how the mission is going.
P-linking is very useful for hard to hit combos. Double-tapping is also useful, but you can make your preference. example of when you’d use p-linking: balrog’s jab jab jab, sweep. you p-link the sweep by hitting RH~forward. ~ is 1 frame apart. the game registers it as two RH entries. I use p-linking a lot for my (as cammy) st.strong, cr.strong combo, and cr.HP > cr.mk. P-linking is only useful for some combos, so it’s up to you to figure that out.
Against akuma’s vortex: firstly, your safest move isn’t an uppercut, it’s the most invincible. Akuma’s demon flip can beat your uppercut (most likely) with a meaty kick option, or palm. Uppercut is NOT a safe bet. You barely ever wanna wakeup DP against good players. Your best bet is to block. You’ll block his palm and his kick, he may throw you, but you can tell when he’s going for the throw, he has to get closer than normal. You also gotta worry about crossup hurricane and crossup demon flip kicks, which would beat your wakeup DP, and hence, your block is your best bet.
as for option selects, i’m not good at doing em, but i know how it works. when ryu does a jump rh OS DP or hurricane, he buffers the tatsu or DP while his jump RH is active and in the air, so when he lands, if he whiffs he automatically does whatever special he executed in the air, and if it blocks/hits, nothing comes out and he can proceed to combo.
lmk if you dont get anything, i typed this out in class :karate:
Oscar - sad you couldn’t make it it’s ok though. It gave us more time to focus on Super!
Taken from Fight Blog - Vinh here, late night/morning edition. Thanks for all the players who could come out tonight for our Wednesday Night Fight. We usually have a pretty big turnout but today wasn?t all too big. Not a lot of people showed but we still have a good solid 8-10 people in rotations. Headcount wasn?t too great but hey, it?ll get better.
3rd Strike laptop had the plug pulled on it. There was only one stick and only a few players so I decided to pull the plug and spend more time with Super. Still, a great turnout even though it wasn?t too big in the headcount. We?ll strive to grow, Saturday?s are usually our best nights so don?t worry.
Speaking of Saturday. We?ll be meeting up at Paul/Abe?s place again to continue our weekly sessions. Same time, 4 ? whenever. So practice up for our Weekly Session. Let?s all get better as a community!
Hey all. My name is Tony and I’m 29 from Spencerport. I just came across this thread. I had no idea we had a fighting game community in our area. I mainly play SSF4. Once all of the arcades closed down or stopped carrying fighting games I somewhat got out of the scene. SF4 brought me back really quick. I’ll be reading along and look forward to getting out and go a few rounds with everyone.
Tony - Hey Tony. Nice to meet you. Usernames Kitsuji but you can just call me Vinh. Maybe you can come on out to our Wednesday night fights at the RIT. Yeah our scene is pretty well known once you get into the loop but for people out of it, sadly we don’t get much attention. But yeah, you should show up Wednesday nights at the RIT. We’re looking for new faces this year and trying to make our community big!
Oscar - nahh, Don’t sweat it man. We didn’t have much people show up this time so it was better off
spending more time with Super that night. Hopefully we’ll have a bigger turnout next Wednesday!
Saw the thread and I’d like to show up at one of your meet ups and see if I can’t learn a few new things. Do you guys ever meet up @ millenium anymore?
