Interesting… from all the shit I heard about my swedish friend crying about getting his ass whooped by Yuri and Benimaru I imagined them both to be high A+. I wonder how credible this list is… how long has KOF been out (aka how early was this list formed?).
And yes goggles, I knew that it’s 3v3, thx. I was looking for a 3rd on my supposedly broken team of Yuri and benimaru :|. EX Kyo perhaps.
Yeah, I wouldn’t mind Athena so much if they didn’t completely overdo her face. The original concept sprite they had for her looked alot better, along with a few other characters. They were even going to use NGBC “Mr.Karate” Ryo at one point, along with the original outfits for the Ikari Warriors.
@Dave: The console version has only been out for a few months, so it’s still early, but with an arcade update coming adding the console changes to it, I’m sure it’ll see alot more play and more data will become available. BALA is one of the top Mexican players, TheAnswer is one of the top USA players, so I think they are pretty credible, but I’d like to see what the other regions come up with.
Matt, love those concept sprites, esp. Ryo’s look. The only possible upgrade would be his Buriki One incarnation. I wish the looks aged and evolved a bit too, like SF3. Terry’s coat would be a simple upgrade that looks the same on first glance.
@Gary - Yeah I agree, Buriki Ryo is hella badass, and Garou Terry would be great, especially if he had the Power Dunk + Break back in full force. I didn’t really agree with how they kept the Garou Terry look in 2003 and XI, then suddenly reverted back to Pizza Delivery Boy Terry.
@Cha - I’d be interested, but my gas money funds are tight for this month, and I’m free in Soul Calibur anyways.
So the more I’ve been reading about gems, the more I’m feeling okay with the idea. I’m just worried how offline play will go and I’m trying to be as open minded and faithful as I can be about these things.
I will reserve all judgment on SFxT until I actually play the game. I’m leaning towards not playing it much right now, but Maximum Juri may convince me to play it.
Alright good, just making sure. I just hate to show up and find out it’s canceled or something ya know? lol
Regarding gems, personally, I don’t mind the concept of character customization far as fighting attributes go in a fighting game, it’s been done in numerous fighting games in the past. Hell one of those games is one that the developer of SFIV, Dimps, made.
My main beef with the gems in SFxT is that Capcom is doing exclusive Pre-Order/DLC gems, and they are the same as the gems you get in the game, except if they had any negative attributes originally, they are now gone and/or replaced by a beneficial attribute, and I think that’s silly. The amount of time it takes to configure your character properly also worries me, because there are dozens of different gems in the game, it could take a long time for both players to setup both of their characters, especially when things like counter picking gets involved.
If I have any reason to pick up SFxT, it’s for the Tekken roster. I really like what I see of Steve, Bob, Asuka, Law, and Hworang, and if both Leo and Christie are in, even better.
Gems will be when the FGC eats a big bowl of hypocrite soup when they ban gems. This is something they always criticized the smash community about when they banned items. I don’t see how they can include them in competitive tournaments with the pre-order /exclusive gem list.
