Wake up problem

Im having problem knowing when i should input a special move when i get knock down. Do i do it when the char is knockdown, as he is waking up or what? I was using abel and when someone meaty jump in on me when I’m, knockdown, i wanted to roll out but by the time i see him jump in( as i was getting up), the roll move doesn’t active.

As abel are were you using Ex-Roll? as normal EX-rolls do not have invincibility so you will get hit out of the start up frames if the opponent does a meaty.

normal roll but that is just an example. I just want to know when you can input the command to during a wake up. I can spam and get the move to work but i just want to have a better knowledge of when to do it.

actually you can input as soon as your character is getting up because of the input leniency (right spelling? dont know)

if you’re more comfortable with frama data stuff… i think you got a 14 frames reversal window.
so combined with average / below-average reaction time as soon as you see your character getting u and the time you need to input your :qcf: motion you “should” hit that reversal window xDD

on the other side… i think it is more usefull to just block the jump in, i mean how do you want to learn a solid defense if you just roll out / teleport out / reversal out … of your opponents offense… there is a time when you cant do that crap and what than? your just fucked and getting raped by some random makoto because the player knows how to apply offense while you only know how to avoid offense… instead of stand through it and punish mistakes / reset attempts

(as always, sry for my english, im german and dont speak a lot of english… at least not yet)

so as soon as the character is getting up that is when the command counts? And when the character is on the ground it doesn’t?

the problem i have when blocking a jump in is empty jump and garb. i rather just roll away or SRK it.

another question is when you recovering from a knock down, when are you able to be hit? right as soon as you are getting up? or you have to be fully up and standing?

It’s pointless to roll forward unless you want to roll into a grab.

If they jump towards you or spamming a jab near you, use ex command grab, works wonders, very cheap as well.

As for knock down you press it just before you touch the ground so when you do you get up instantly. You just have to mix that up a bit but rather limited due to being 2D.

Block or fabd- if they know O/S’s then block correctly and O/S crouch tech any blockstrings or throw out a command grab when you sense a tic throw.
