What’s even more fun is playing against a Toon Link. After he does his midair jump, missile him. Then he’ll do the Spin Attack. Missile him. He’ll keep doing it, and every time, just missile the fucker. Repeat until he either falls short of recovery, gives up and drops to his doom, or is flat-out boundary killed. I actually had a scrubby kid at LameStop tell me that Samus should be banned from competitive play because of that shit.
I just realized… When you grab the ledge with samus, there’s a short amount of time you have to wait before you can climb the ledge.
But when you use your tether recovery, you can instantly climb up the ledge.
I tested that out recently, and it should probably be noted.
Also, what’s the most reliable way to climb the ledge? Anyone? I usually use either the attack or the roll, but both are punishable. Should I just jump?
It seems to me that Samus has a good variety of ways to approach from ledges. She can drop, jumping f-air or u-air toward the stage if they’re close (they combo well on hit). Rolling up and ledge attack are good depending on what the opp. will do and their position. I’ll usually approach w/ u-air when they whiff an attack right by the ledge and they’re unsafe, then I f-air if they’re a bit further. F-air from the ledge should allow all of the hits to combo so the final hit should give some good knockback for Samus’ zoning game.
I actually started messing around with her and have now picked her up as another character…I’m digging a lot of her stuff and when I play other people I’m surprised at how many people run into the charge shot lol. It’s like as soon as they heard ‘it doesn’t kill like it used too’ they heard ‘it won’t kill me at all!’. People still need to have healthy fear of a fully charged beam…I’ve blasted too many people point blank in the face and gotten ko’s lol.
I main Samus in Brawl, she has great approach with the Zair and a great combo game, and as everyone here knows her downfall is her ability to kill and bad match ups with small characters, but her KO ability can be solved with some dairs
Look guys, the difference between a homing missile and the super missile is the difference between tilting r/l +b and smashing r/l+b.
Hope this helps!
I’m wondering…is this supposed to be a troll post?
-No trollin’ here man.
I think that attack was the final blow Samus used on Mother Brain in Super Metroid for the SNES.
No Trollin here
O.k. the previous post was a dial-up induced error. Please disregard it. Sorry.
And, I went on wikipedia and found out that I was wrong. Turns out that the Mother Brain Frying move from SM is called the Hyper Beam, not the “Zero Laser”.
Still, the so-called “Zero Laser” may be inspired by the Hyper Beam.
So is there any real practical application for shield dashing with Samus? I main her in melee and have to wavedash as my main movement just to keep up with faster characters like space animals and captain falcon. I haven’t played much brawl so I’m not sure if shield dashing will have a similar effect.
Its not similar, really not even close to wavedashing. You use it mainly to approach characters that can projectile spam or for mindgames rly, its useful, but not even close to wavedashing
