I’m also really liking Akuma’s voice, especially the way he says Tenma Gozanku. "Tenma…GOOO-ZANNKUUUUUUUUUUU!!"
Coming from a guy who wasn’t too impressed with Ryu and Akuma’s English VA’s in SFIV, I’m really liking the extra effort they’re making in MvC3.
Characters like Felicia or Morrigan, I honestly never cared enough about them to grow attached to their JPN voices, so I’m just gonna leave them in English.
Also super impressed with Joe’s voice, at first I was sad at the lack of Dee Bradly Baker but holy damn his replacement is doing a fantastic job, a great replacement all things considered. (Plus, its much better than his trashy, crappy VA from TvC or that disgusting hack from the Kids WB dub. God-damn…)
I’ll probably have everyone in japanese possible besides Dante, Wesker, Chris and maybe Trish. Dormammu, Iron Man, and Doom have some great stuff. I think Deadpool and Chris had better voice overs for the most part before they changed the lines.
I wish there’s a DLC JPN VA System Pack for Marvel Characters after all characters completely on-disc revealed & DLC released, since there was some of the deal with a Madhouse.
For Example liked Wolverine’s JPN VA in Iron Man Anime Episode 4, Rikiya Koyama. Koyama’s voice kinda coolin’ badass & probably might fits to him.
I’m fine with all the cast’s English voiceovers except for Ryu’s. From the little I’ve heard he sounds terrible in his winning quotes. While I like the voiceovers I do admit that alot of the actual dialogue is bad. To much of it seems repeated from character to character. Also, some characters like to repeat themselves, ALOT, such as Wesker with the, “Damnit!” or Chris with the, “Suck it!” (does he still say that in the recent builds?).
P.S. Like others have posted, Dormammu’s “Run, RUN!” is god-like. That and an Ex-Power Ranger as Zero is also win. Lol!
I’ve been majorly disappointed with the voice cast in this game. Considering all
the hype and more than likely decent funding for this game, they seriously
couldn’t shell out better actors? No particular character stands out as “amazing”,
but there are those that at the very least, sound decent. Which will have to do
compared to the rest of the clutter.
The only decent ones in this game are :
Zero, Dormammu, Wolverine, Amaterasu (lol, go figure. Kinda hard to make a
dog sound bad), Chris Redfield, Hulk, Pheonix, Viewtiful Joe, Arthur, Dante
Everyone else not listed either sounds mind-numbingly awful, or is just flat out
bland and forgettable.
The dialogue in the game is surprisingly very good. Too bad they couldn’t get the
actors to do it justice.
Where the fuck is Wesker, Thor, M.O.D.O.K., and Super Skrull?
Also, I love the way Phoenix sounds in DPH mode when she does that flame bird (Don’t know the name, not the hyper). “FOOL!” or something. The echo on it sounds too epic.
I think 3rd Strike, CvS2, and especially Garou can’t be beat. But this is close. Once I can get rid of all the dumbass english ones like Chun, Zero and Hsien I’ll pass judgement.
Before Hsien-Ko was revealed, I thought to myself just who would be her NA voice actress. Based around the Capcom VAs, I thought it would either be Ibuki’s VA from SSF4 or Makoto’s from SSF4. I was hoping it would be somebody other than those two, particularly Makoto’s VA.
While her VA hasn’t been listed yet, I firmly believe that Hsien-Ko’s VA is the same one who voiced Makoto from SSF4. I can hear that…grating tone in her voice. It’s Makoto, but with a more “cutesy” voice. Urgh.
That’s pretty much the only voice I take issue with in the game. Hell, I don’t mind Felicia because that’s pretty much how I expected her to sound. Same with Morrigan. Hsien-Ko, however…urgh. Can’t win em’ all, I guess.
The only people dumb-enough to think that this game has the best-casted English VAs are friggin’ anime nerds who are used to hearing the same lead voices over and over and over and over and over again from the shows they’ve watched on Adult Swim.
Seriously, try to watch something that’s not from Japan for 5 seconds before you think you have a niche for labeling what’s “good” or “bad.” There’s a reason certain people do voiceovers for mostly Western-based productions (American cartoons/commercials/radio dramas) and there are certain people who do voiceovers for mostly Eastern-based productions (anime/games): because Eastern shit is stupid and when dubbing it nobody cares how overused/drab the voice actors are or how canned the acting is. Why? Because anime fans don’t even care about acting. You think fans would ever give Bleach, Naruto, Death Note, or Geass praise for how “well acted” they were over pretty/violent shit, generic shonen themes, underaged tits, and sadistic anime schoolboys? Don’t think so, especially since it’s the usual overdone shit that otaku have been jerking-off to in the last decade regardless of who dubs it.

I’m fine with the English VA’s. None of them really bother me, not even Hsien-Ko who I figured was Makoto as soon as she said “AI-YAH!”. In fact, I think some of the returning actors are better this time around, particularly Laura Bailey with Chun-Li.
This. Ryu, Akuma and Chun Li seemed like they are the most improved from SFIV, especially Ryu. Kyle Herbert seems like he’s making more of an effort for this go round, I mean he actually saids Tastumaki Sempuukyaku and his overall “fire” and “passion” is definitely noticable. Akuma as well, just seems very menacing.
