Couldn’t unearth any discussion about this under the mounds of “Tom Kane is a Good/Bad Magneto” chatter, so I apologize if this is redundant, but has anyone tried to identify Spencers voice yet?
I know he was played by Faith No More/Fantomas/Mr. Bungle singer Mike Patton in Bionic Commando, and Mike’s no stranger to doing VA work for videogames (playing nearly all of the infected creatures in the Left 4 Dead series), so it stands to reason that Capcom may have given him a callback.
Spencer appears almost a minute into this cutscene. He’s portrayed with a slightly more gruff tone than his MvC3 counterpart (my guess is that recording lines for MvC3 required a quicker delivery), but they definitely sound alike. Until I’ve got more MvC3 footage to tip my ear in a different direction, I’m pretty sure it’s Patton.
“You do deserve a chair, Mag! Except the one I’m thinking of doesn’t have wheels.”
I dunno if it’s the same guy though. I don’t know it it was just the diologue or script, but MvC3 Spencer’s VA has a lot more cheese. Not that it’s a bad thing, infact it’s the opposite; his MvC3 tone and delivery is how I’d picture the classic/rearmed Rad Spencer if he had a voice in those games.
“Fragile little ego” isn’t exactly helping you dude. Can we stop the Maggy convo please? Enough bickeringggg. Let’s talk about how we can agree most if not all the voices are fitting-
yeah someone posted that before, its an excellent page. listening to just the sound of CotA mags, he is a very good magneto without the sounds of the game going on
I do. I think his voice should represent his personality. And his personality is not vile, malicious, snarling, or even angry. He perceived himself as a defender of an endangered species. You don’t have to sound like Bison or Akuma to be a badass antagonist.
