Visiting Japan

It seems like several people who post here already visit Japan regularly or semi-regularly. I’m wondering if we could nail down 1-2 times a year where everyone could go, and get as many people as possible to go at the same time.

I think I could afford a week in Japan 1-2 times a year. And definitely want to go.

For those who already visit Japan to play Third Strike, when do you usually go?

For those who don’t already visit, does this sound like something you’d be interested in?

Yeah, would be pretty sick to go. Don’t need this front page “EVO Japan” with probably-

…no arcade machines.

I hope I don’t discourage you at all but I’d say plan the trip assuming it will be just you. Traveling overseas is one of those things lots of people will commit to but much fewer will actually go. There’s still a chance you’ll meet some english speakers while you’re there. Also it would suck if you planned your trip with someone on here who turned out to be a goober irl :frowning:

I’d plan for next Coop Cup if I were you. It’s possible I can attend this year but too early to say. I’d say you’re most likely to see other foreign players at Coop Cup than any other time of the year. Even if you’re alone you’ll have a great time. I know several people on these boards including myself have traveled there solo and everyone I’ve talked to didn’t regret it at all.

I’d say there are even a few advantages to travelling there solo…

-Japanese seem more likely to talk to you in bars if you’re alone
-Seems easier to get games against the big boys when you aren’t mobbin the arcade with 8 of your american homeboys
-More likely to get roomy accommodations on your plane ride.

Those all sound like good points! Might have to take your advice. When is coop cup, and is it a once a year thing?

It was Jan last year, but it wasn’t announced until a couple months before hand. So no date so far. Are none of your bros in Alaska down?

I want to go for a Coop Cup, thought about it before, but it’s coughing up the money that’s difficult for me.
Would want to be there a few weeks in advance, to shake of the rust.

Japan is the 3rd Strike Mecca/Vatican.

If you love 3rd… You should make the pilgramage.

If you come alone… I’ll show you a good time. The non gay kind.

If you beat a high level Japanese dude at 3S does it give you a free pass to Soap Land?

Asking for a friend. @NickRocks

I was about to make a thread for this…

But not for the group thing you were thinking of…
Next year, I’m likely going to Osaka for a week to visit some friends.

Are there any arcades in Osaka that I should check out?

ima be in Okinawa in September with my grandma. I noticed there’s an arcade with danisen now

thanks! I’ll keep an eye out and I’m sure everyone will be talking about it here too. so long as it isn’t December or mid to late summer I shouldn’t have issues getting time off work.

I think for the alaska players it’s a question of money but that might clear up over the next few months so we’ll see.

visit the castle, its Ryu’s SF2 stage!! I don’t know any osaka arcades but Kyoto is about ~45 minute train ride from Osaka I think and A-cho is there.

Thank you pherai.

Game Space Vegas is the 3S place in Osaka imo. Hayao, Haitani, Saru… play there.

I can tell you first hand that, I was approached by this man and he was a nice fella ! Still rocking that chun?

Anyone who visited Japan know what equipment they use to stream from the cabs?? I didn’t know where to ask this and didn’t want to start a new thread and stuff

I have been wondering the same thing recently.
converted rgb scart output?

I don’t know what they use but it seems everyone and their mother has streaming capabilities so I don’t think it should be very difficult.

When you figure it out please share on here.
