It seems like several people who post here already visit Japan regularly or semi-regularly. I’m wondering if we could nail down 1-2 times a year where everyone could go, and get as many people as possible to go at the same time.
I think I could afford a week in Japan 1-2 times a year. And definitely want to go.
For those who already visit Japan to play Third Strike, when do you usually go?
For those who don’t already visit, does this sound like something you’d be interested in?
I hope I don’t discourage you at all but I’d say plan the trip assuming it will be just you. Traveling overseas is one of those things lots of people will commit to but much fewer will actually go. There’s still a chance you’ll meet some english speakers while you’re there. Also it would suck if you planned your trip with someone on here who turned out to be a goober irl
I’d plan for next Coop Cup if I were you. It’s possible I can attend this year but too early to say. I’d say you’re most likely to see other foreign players at Coop Cup than any other time of the year. Even if you’re alone you’ll have a great time. I know several people on these boards including myself have traveled there solo and everyone I’ve talked to didn’t regret it at all.
I’d say there are even a few advantages to travelling there solo…
-Japanese seem more likely to talk to you in bars if you’re alone
-Seems easier to get games against the big boys when you aren’t mobbin the arcade with 8 of your american homeboys
-More likely to get roomy accommodations on your plane ride.
I want to go for a Coop Cup, thought about it before, but it’s coughing up the money that’s difficult for me.
Would want to be there a few weeks in advance, to shake of the rust.
thanks! I’ll keep an eye out and I’m sure everyone will be talking about it here too. so long as it isn’t December or mid to late summer I shouldn’t have issues getting time off work.
I think for the alaska players it’s a question of money but that might clear up over the next few months so we’ll see.
Anyone who visited Japan know what equipment they use to stream from the cabs?? I didn’t know where to ask this and didn’t want to start a new thread and stuff
