Am I the only one having problems with the controls? I dunno if it’s the online lag or simply the lack of twin-sticks but sometimes this game’s controls are outright unresponsive. Like, in online matches today I couldn’t tell you the amount of times I tried to fire off one of Bal’s ERLs in midair only to have nothing come out, even though I timed the button presses perfectly fine. I also find this to be an issue with Bal’s Pyramid. I can have it all set up correctly, press the correct buttons and get Black Hole instead. Perhaps it’s a side effect of the lack of twin-sticks. I also find quick-steps in a CC situation difficult to use as well.
i hate to come off as whiny but i had to say it ;_;. I think this game is pretty goddamn rad otherwise, I’m having a lot of fun with it, it’s just my difficulty with the controls that gets me.
Having only a pad available and being a beginner, I can only get a feel with the standard controls. Should I learn to get used to the twin stick setting?
I think the normal controls are fine, especially for pad. IMO it’s easier to jump cancel that way and using sliding attacks, etc. Right now I’m using the standard config but with the bumpers instead of triggers, works pretty well.
Man, I remember playing Operation Moongate like nuts in my local arcade during middle school. Good times. Everybody swarmed around it since Gundam Wing just started airing on Toonami about the same time the arcade got the cabinet. Shame I never got the chance to play this one in arcades.
Anyway, I’m pretty terrible but I’m getting better and I’m always up for a match if anyone wants to add me.
I have finally figured out how to quickstep on the 360 pad so that ANYONE can do it practically. Rather than trying to time it EXACTLY, just tap turbo RIGHT before moving. It makes a HUMONGOUS difference and the window with which to input a direction after the turbo press is actually rather wide, considering. If you want to do an QS attack, just piano it: RT/LT->direction->attack in quick succession
Hey dudes, just bought this game and have been enjoying the hell out of it the past few days. I am just now starting to get the hang of it but would love if someone would be willing to play a few matches and explain some of the high level aspects of the game. I’d really like to know some tactics to be able to know when/how to dodge and counter close range attacks. I never played the original so this is all new and awesome to me!

Twin-Sticks are go, being manufactured by Hori. However, it’ll not only be online-only, but Sega may cancel the entire thing if preorders don’t meet their expectations. Price is 30,000 Yen (around $300) and it’ll hit mid November.
what do you guys think of the default controls I main alpharmed the battler but i cant keep an good sigh on my opponent while maintaining my momentum. I think boost and descend are too far apart on the xbox controller.
