oh sweet, quick disconnects on the buttons = me not having to configure buttons everytime for tekken
That layout is ass, but yeah the QD’s do kinda save it.
All-Sanwa is totally awesome too, I’ll have to look into this if they’re still in stock when I finally decide to shell out the cash for a PS3.
Just got my VSHG in today and possibily the first person in Houston to get one. The styling of this stick kicks ass, Sega really outdone themselves on this one. I just wish the layout was the normal layout, but it can be overlooked. Base seems to be very well constructed and yes it is heavier for sure.
how much was shipping?
I bought two, the other one is for my friend, shipping for two was $71.60 and shipping for one was $47.50 by UPS. I’ll get my second VSHG later once I get my PS3. I wanted to get mine now so I can have a PS3 stick to play over at my friends’ places.
sweeeeeeet
I was lucky and preordered two VSHG’s and paid only $42 shipping.
Anyway, on a different note - does anyone know if there’s a way to convert the VSHG to use digital input rather than analog (on either PC or PS3)? I heard that because the stick is analog it will cause issues with Tekken DR (which uses digital input).
For PC, perhaps there are some custom drivers that allow you to map the analog inputs to digital or something. It sux having to type “OK” in mame at the disclaimer screen, because the joystick movements do not register until you’re actually in a game.
Does anyone know?
Also, does anyone else have any problems pulling off moves which require 3 simultaneous button presses such as Zangielf’s lariet or level 3 supers in sfa2 in MAME or any other emulator with the VSHG? The buttons register perfectly when I test it under Control Panel -> Game Controllers, but I can only get a lariet to come out 50% of the time. The rest of the time I end up just doing a normal punch. I’m looking at my fingers when I push the button and I swear all the buttons are being pushed at the same time, and all my fingers are level.
I’ve never had a problem with this before, and I’m no scrub. I’ve been playing Street Fighter games since Street Fighter II World Warrior came out, and it’s quite concerning. On the dreamcast and ps2 (HRAP with sanwa buttons), I do not have this problem with any of the games I play. I’m wondering whether it’s a PC problem, stick problem, or whether it’s just me?
Who told you that the stick is analog? That wouldn’t serve Sega any purpose to make the stick analog especially most fighting games are digital. Post link article that says this.
has anyone actually TESTED this stick with DR?
Isn’t that why the sticks were recalled?
I just took apart my VFHG and it doesn’t look like there’s enough depth for the Sanwa RGs to fit… Maybe if you bend the connectors… but I don’t have a spare RG on me. Anyone can confirm?
So none of these sticks can play ps2 games on the ps2…?
Ok Cheesy, I tested my High Grade on Final Burn on PC, looks like it works digital to me. However I can see how you said that you had problems pulling lariats with Zangief. But I also tested the stick on Nightwarriors: Darkstalker’s revenge, it seems like I can pull 3 button supers with Morrigan fine.
When going into the configuration, it seems to put the stick’s directional movement into the Point of View control, therefore it seems like it’s outputting digital to me.
Which supers of Morrigan’s require you to hit 3 buttons simultaneously?
I hate to say this Ed, but all of Darkstalkers EX moves only require two buttons simultaneously, not three.
ok I’ll try with two.
Okay everyone, I got my VSHGs in today and I LOVE this stick. Definitely the best stock stick ever.
Here is what I did with mine:

I’ll list the pros and cons now:
Pros:
- ALL Sanwa parts. Nice JLF with the new OBSF-30 color Black/Dark Hai (hai = grey)
- Quick disconnects
- Strong construction
- Heavy in weight
- Easily moddable (only need to remove QDs)
Cons:
- Odd button layout (most everyone will rewire the buttons to have normal layout)
- Not a lot of wrist room (doesn’t bother me but it might bother some of you)
- Needs precision pressing 3 buttons simultaneously
I think the weirdest con is definitely the 3 button press. I heard this was a problem previously for people who used this on the PC and couldn’t get Zangief’s lariat off consistently. I tried it with Tekken DR with Bryan’s taunt. It definitely has to be more precise. I know it’s not a problem with the stick being able to register 3 button inputs at once because if I buffer the 3 button press, it comes out accurately and consistently.
I didn’t detect any lag but I didn’t spend a lot of time doing time sensitive moves. I will later today and update.
I didn’t test it on PC because I don’t play games on my PC. I would just be able to tell you that it registers, and we already know it works on both Mac and PC so there’s really no point in me doing it.

I used my VSHG for VF5 and and never had any problems using Brad’s swaying movement. Brad’s sways all require you press 3 buttons at the same time.
I do find though that my hands don’t rest on the base but on the edge as the stick and buttons are placed quite low down and the stick itself is really similar to the stock one on my SC2 hori.
