Location test started yesterday! There are some pictures on VFDC if you’re interested. Here are the general system changes:
If you are hit during a failed evade, it’s a Counter Hit. However, if you are successful with your evade, you move to the opponent’s SIDE. Huge risk/return here, as they were proclaiming. However, you apparently can still evade if your attack is evaded.
Low full circular attacks are now stopped if they are blocked. (like in VF3)
0 frame throws, AND throw clash has been eliminated. It is now much closer to the VF4 system, apparently.
Backdash has been MUCH improved, however… if you are hit DURING a backdash, you will be knocked on your ass and you will be at a huge disadvantage.
When you land from a jump, you are considered crouching.
On a stomach crumple stun, you are no longer open to low throws, and standing punch will not float you properly.
Goh’s stage’s wall crumbles after one blast.
Low throws have changed to 1_2_3 and 33P+G. Throws that were previously mapped to these commands have now been changed.
Lots of new animations. Characters lean back a little when backstepping. Successful evade animations look a little different too.
A number of new hit stun animations.
Hopping looks much more natural now. It still looks kinda funny, but the characters don’t float like feathers anymore.
The joystick icon doesn’t come up for stuff like it used to… (Akira’s guard breakers).
Lifebars have this grayish stone texture-like graphic outlining the actual life. Looks like a solid gray color in the vids.
“Dramatic” camera angles. When you get hit by body check or Jacky’s 66+K kick, the camera changes to show you getting knocked away.
i’m getting vf5 later this week, but i just played vf4 today and the graphic is ass, the characters proportion’s all messed up. i’m suprised how much better vf5 graphic had improved. it got an austere quality to it unlike the loud ass hitspark design of tekken 6. i’m not gonna play the game seriously, just want to customize sarah and aoi to look like j beezys.
wow that sucks… tekken 6 got much more spacing involve and throws are pretty much useless in high level play. i can see why tekken is much more popular in japan even though VF got much more superior graphic. grabs are bitchmade.
Holy cow. Is that Aoi’s 4G+K? Looks super buff. Only -6 on block and almost looks like her sweep. If it’s tech crouch as well, that shit is too good. Lol.
my point exactly. standing around and doing nothing is the safest option in tekken most of the time. it seems like SF4 is too defensive, VF is too offensive, and tekken got just the right balance.
nah i’m a top player in tekken, rank legitely in the top 10 of the xbox leaderboard. i’ve finally figured out why VF is doing worse than tekken in japan even though it got better presentation/graphic. it’s that it’s too offensive/too powerful grabs.
