Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown

this is getting on my nerves. sega should treat us loyal fans with a console port. how hard can it be?? instead they are wasting their time on shite like alpha protocol

^The game isn’t even out in arcades yet, give Sega a chance before kicking them about a console port.

In any event that trailer looks brilliant and I can’t wait to play it. I was never very good at VF, but I do love the games a great deal and will definitely be getting it on 360 and playing the crap out of it (when/if it’s released. I think it will be).
Some of the new moves look great, and while I liked Wolfs new Shining Wizard (I wonder how many ways he can combo into that) I didn’t like his weird Vertical Suplex into Rock Bottom thingy. Although I get the idea that will be some kind of Chain throw thing, like El Blaze’s fake suplex into the kick. That would be neat, since I can only think of Wolf’s ‘catch’ move being similar to that previously.

Yeah. The loketests don’t start until July if what I read was correct.

[offtopic]And for the record, Alpha Protocol is not that bad.[/offtopic]

Yeah, Wolf’s new throw will take some getting used to after he’s had Stiener Screwdriver (VF2) and Jackhammer (VF5) if it is a replacement. The Blaze suplex fake looks like it’ll lead to really sick mixups and whatnot.

I really hope this gets a console port. I just hope that since Sega had time to beta test Jean and Taka in VF5R, they don’t suck as much as Goh did in VF4Evo. shudders Goh was virtually unplayable in Evo.

Rewatching it again, just noticed that Akira’s Ten Foot Toss doesn’t toss anymore. Leaves the opponent grounded and it seems as if Akira is left at frame advantage. Oh boy oh boy oh boy

What? A Goh player swept he faced at SBO2003. Goh was way more than unplayable, he was an SBO winning character.

A player doing well with a bad character doesn’t always mean that said character isn’t bad. Maybe it just means the player is extraordinarily good.

This.

Blanka and Gief for top tier in ST.

Thank you both for the dumb opinion.

How does a ‘virtually unplayable’ character manage to win SBO? Maybe because that character is shock competitively playable. A ‘virtually unplayable’ character would be Sean from 3S because no one touches him competitively.

And did either of you play VF4EVO or were around for it?
/me braces for more idiotic dissent from people who don’t know shit about VF4EVO :looney:

Just read this article on FS over at Andriasang.

Looks like Sega’s trying a bit harder (and lower) this time towin over more players.

Oh wait what’s that ?
Is that Sean in grand finals ?

I don’t think you should be talking about knowledge of VF4 considering even VFDC moderators call you out on your shit in regards to this.

lol, were *you *around? no none in NY even seems to know you so kill that noise yea.

Goh was bad in EVO, Arashi was sick in EVO.

Both Goh and Brad felt a bit underdone compared to most of the cast in Evo. They were solid competitive characters though and some players did really well with them like Arashi with Goh and I remember Oshu being quite successful with Brad. Both characters have come such a long way since then and I think there demonstrations in the FS trailer were the most impressive (beautiful fast flowing combinations and sways from Brad and a brutal air slam from Goh). Gotta give credit to the players primarily, Oshu in particular really made Brad look stylish in Evo despite his limitations.

And seeing that vid reminds me about crouch dash canceling. Really hope they bring that back, in addition to faster successful evades. Those were 2 of the things which gave VF4 it’s extra pace.

oh, such entitlement…

I just knew when I saw your post what I was getting into.

–Just watched the vid again:

-Is stomping on people’s feet the new thing to do?
-What the hell kinda bound thing was that that Goh hit Eileen with? Shit looked kinda brutal
-Does Sarah have some sort of throw on mid-air opponents? And what’s with the hip toss?
-If this game doesn’t get a port I’m gonna kill babies.
-If the port doesn’t sell well I’m gonna kill kittens.

OT:
I always wondered what were peoples opinions on quest mode

Found it a lot of fun, and I think that it’s something they could expand on to try and get some more casual fighter fans interested. Apart from that though, I wish that it was possible to unlock things in the multiplayer modes rather than Quest mode alone.

I really am praying for VF5: FS to come out on console port. That new trailer made me very very stiff past the knees. :lovin:

I secretly, have always been a fan of VF. I played VF5 on PS3 and then after realizing there’s an update on Xbox (and the PS3 one is outdated), there’s no community for it in my local/regional area, and it’s A LOT slower than VF4: EVO (my favorite VF that I still play vs. the computer sometimes lol)…I took it back.

VF5: FS looks like VF4: EVO on crack, and if it comes out for console it’ll be AN INSTANT buy from me. NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!

VFDC site is down right know I wonder if we have an annoucement for final showdown comming soon out of E3.

@Digimonemporer

I really hope it gets a console version as well, it’s due time. I haven’t really touched Virtua Fighter for about 2 years now, and this update to VF5 would be the perfect time for me to get back into it. Looks fantastic.
