I’m not specifically sure but LA Akira mentions on stream that there are specific combos with Jacky that Fuudo only could pull off 30% of the time. Some players can pull it off in tournament 80% of the time. Not sure of the actual notation since I don’t play Jacky but I’m pretty sure they are referring to that kick cancel.
At 1hr 29min he gives you a basic rundown of every character in the game.
IMO Lau is probably the simplest character to learn that has the least amount of weaknesses. Lion is also another character that is fairly basic to learn and he’s also S tier which helps a lot.
Yeah you’re right, looking forward to tonight’s stream as well. It’s so late in the night on the east coast so I won’t be able to concentrate on VF5FS around that time anyway lol.
No what he meant was that he bought both dlc and game on japan psn but he can only see/use dlc on his japanese account and not his regular account. But then I found out that the game isnt out anywhere yet so idk.
Thanks to all that tuned into the ultrachen show last night! I’ll be back on there tonight talking about some OG street fighter stories.
I also wanted to clear a few things up on here. Not a big deal but just for clarity sake…
The combo that fuudo mentioned he was having a hard time doing is with Jacky and starts with smash upper. hold down, then down forward p. From there, you need to evade, then cancel the evade with a dash, cancel the dash with guard, then p, then heel sword (back k+g). If you have done this part correctly, the heel sword will miraculously create a big bound (bounce) when it normally doesn’t. After that part the combo is fairly easy.
I said Jean is a fundamental character and great to start with because other than two moves or so, he has fairly easy execution. You can do well with simply a few moves and if anyone has watched the STA streams or NCR, you’ll have seen Renzo winning tournaments with just a few moves. This doesn’t mean there aren’t any other strictly fundamental characters. Lau, lion, jeffry are also farily basic. Everyone has something special about them that bends the rules of the game so again, pick who you like and pick a few moves to start with. You don’t need to use the entire moves list if you are starting out. If anyone watched UFGT8, you might have seen floe get 3rd place with a 5 move akira. 66p, 46p, 33p, 3p+k and 6p+g. This is what I meant about finding a few good moves to start with and learning the fundamentals. Great job Floe!
Once again, thanks again to those who watched the show and if you have any questions on vf or for me in general, hit me up on twitter @laakira
Hey Scorpio, Its all about preference tbh. I have seen quite a few Kage players in arcades when I played in japan and although he has some very intense setups, you can be very effective without using all of them. It really depends on how you use him. Something as simple as holding punch after performing Kage’s elbow to go into jumonji and then using p+k from there to sabaki a punch or elbow class move is pretty straightforward. If you checked out the shadowloo showdown, Ryan Hart got 2nd place using kage with a strong fundamental game and almost no shenanigans.
AFAIK motion is now hcb p+g and it doesn’t launch anymore, he does a canned izuna drop combo only now. However he has a new launch throw now, 46p+g I think.
