There’s also score attack, license challenge and special sparring (which I believe requires all the DLC items) as far as single-player modes go.
No, but I hear it has something similar.
Also no Knockout Trial Special
Original VF5 on disc was about 5-6GB. To make XBLA requirements they have to shrink it down to just over 2GB. Something has to give.
If this was a physical release I’m sure they could fit everything in.
That’s only for XBL, PSN titles can be over 4GB as indicated by full PS3 titles being downloadble. Thanks Microsoft for fucking everyone up!
Well technically they could sell the full game on XBL’s Games on Demand, but I’m guessing that putting it on XBLA is a better move since that section of the marketplace is far more popular.
Isn’t there any advertisement over at XBLA for Games on Demand or anything? If not, they could’ve started some with VF5.
Haunts is gonna be streaming online matches with LA Akira again today, at around 3-3:30pm Pacific. www.twitch.tv/iplaywinner
So, I’m interested in trying this one out. Will a demo be available on PSN ?
The short answer no.
The long answer, PSN gets shafted on demos a lot sadly this isn’t the first time. If you have a friend who is willing to game share with you that is possible but remember PSN only allows 1 other PS3 for gamesharing, since the change in rules last year. From what I know PS plus doesn’t get a price cut though that could change in the weeks more months to come. 15 bucks isn’t a lot but if you have never played VF I can see where your coming from.
So I’m going to be picking this up along with some locals, but I really have no idea where to start as far as looking at characters. I’m relatively unfamiliar with 3D fighters in general, so I was wondering if there was somewhere I could read about the characters and what makes them unique so I could potentially get a better feel for who I wanted to play other than just saying ‘this dude looks cool’
Thanks in advance.
honestly you’re going to have to just play the game IMO.
just play a little with everyone and see who “feels right” to you. thats what i had to do.
i wanted to play as (in order)
lion (used to play as him in vf2, fighter’s megamix, vf3)
wolf
shun
eileen
and ended up playing as vanessa, lol.
will help, tho.
Some great matches featuring Chabouzu (Lei), Koyuki (Eileen) and Wasakon (Lau):

What kind of things should I start to learn first as a VF newb? The movement looks slow in here and nothing seems to speed up until wake up games.
hopefully it sells enough to warrant a disc release? I can dream…
#1 Play single player mode with each character and find the one character that you enjoy playing. DO NOT worry about tiers since tiers really don’t matter in a Virtua Fighter game
#2 Once you find that character, go through the training and command modes 10 times or until you can get through it without much difficulty
#3 Play Free Training and practice on the CPU controlled character non stop. Don’t forget to increase the CPU difficulty here. This is where you will learn timing and matchups
#4 Go to VFDC and look at your characters dojo for more tips and combos
#5 Download the the entire DLC package. It isn’t really VF unless you have access to all of the costumes
#6 Play against a human in either online and offline mode. They should be ok competition wise but not as good as the Free Training CPU dummy
#7 Keep playing. Being new to the game equals that you will lose a lot. The more you put into this game the more you will have fun with it.
#8 Don’t be afraid to find other players in your local area and have a get together to play some offline matches. You can find your local scene on the VFDC Matchmaking forum
For anyone who wants frames until theres complete lists on VFDC, you can find most here: http://lettuce1789.blog133.fc2.com/. Links are on the right column. Aoi Sarah and Jeffry are missing though
Sweet stuff. I’m actually interested in using Jacky first for the JKDness.
Practice how to move around the screen? Practice how to evade into dash/crouch dash and vice versa. Learn how to use offensive move during your strings so that you’re always buzzing around whoever you’re fighting. Movement is probably the hardest thing to get down in VF and it’s going to look stiff until you get it down.
A friend of mine has been showing me videos, and I’m absolutely stoked. Super excited to play as Eileen since I do Hou Quan myself so I can even watch her animations as reference.
