Oh wow I had no idea they gave 6 costume types by default. I had the assumption they just gave A and B, thanks for clearing that up. I have to admit 6 costume types is pretty solid, Sega did well this time around.
Really? I heard him say that everything that is in the arcade, you are getting for the console. I believe it is suppose to be a perfect port as far as costumes and gameplay.
“99.99%” of customizations from arcade will be available in the game (Japanese specific items may not be included)." - is what Frank roughly stated in Southtown Arcade Tournament 1.2
Gotcha. Thanks for the info.
Am I the only one that saw characters dressed up as Mr. T, Hulk Hogan, and Cammy in that vid…
Customization is swagged out… I’m really thinking about trying it, but it usually I don’t feel like it…
If I can get Goh to look like Ozzy Osbourne, I’m wit it…
That’s the thing. I usually never bother with customization, but for some reason with VF5FS I can’t wait to get to customize.
Any idea how many customs you can have per character? There’s six costumes to select from so I’m hoping you can have six in total. Not that two customs crap that Tekken has.
I think you can only have 2 costumes to pick from. It should be like VF5 where you have two slots and you can assign whichever two costumes you want to them; but you can always change/swap them out easily.
I’m pretty sure Lau is Kenshiro, Brad is customized as Mario and Taka is Hakan
5 outfits per character (A B C D E), you can customize all of them the way you want AFAIK. You can also use parts of one costume in another, eg. take Akira’s B costume’s slippers and add them to his A costume.
Andriasang has an article
http://andriasang.com/con10k/vf5fs_date/
It links to the Japanese site, says it list the items?
Since they don’t get uploaded on youtube, I’ve taken the liberty of uploading the Central8 arcade ranbat’s that are posted on NicoNico. I will also post the older ones; I’ll update this thread with each new set or you can subscribe.
I’ll post them in this thread every now and then; and if anyone can translate the player names by leaving a comment on the video or just telling me here it would be appreciated!
Alot of notable players are in these (including Itoshun)! Here is the full set:

The framerate is GDLK in those vids, thanks for the post.
Also if anyone is new to VF and wants to know a little backstory on the history, story and basic mechanics then Virtua Kazama is your man. He did a great job on eventhubs and I am glad he is exposing it to new fighting game players in general. Personally it saddens me that eventhubs even exists but the 09 wars scared a lot of people off, embarrassed to say I was part of the problem lol. Anyway here is the link:
Also I was reading some threads on VFDC and the old Schoolers not liking the removal of MTE was very interesting. Honestly though I feel that the VFers are going through what SF players were going through in 09. IMHO the changes in VF are no where as harmful as the changes in SF. Even then SF4 isn’t really a bad game in retrospect but VF is still leagues more deep. I am hoping some of the new players don’t get the wrong idea when they read those threads.
I just realized you can set your buttons *and *check them at the character select!
What’s funny is that this happened before SFIV. The really good players were complaining that the system got nerfed because “n00bz” couldn’t deal the 2p - > Throw/Elbow because of how the throws were slower (and how in general the game was slower coming from VF4) and that Throw Clash negated the two-choice aspect of it because it reset the pace once an attack and throw hit at the same time. Throw Clash was there to protect the person initiating the throw form getting hit with a PPPK string or P Flowchart, since throws were slower from the VF4s. This could be exploited so you didn’t have to make a the choice of how to properly defend yourself in the way of making a choice or using the defensive OSs in the game, and you could just reset the pace by pressing P.
0f throws made a return form VF3 to give another advantage to the thrower where, if the opponent wasn’t inputting commands the throw didn’t go through start-up of any kind and just threw them.
So you have 0f Throws where there is instant start-up where if the opponent doesn’t do anything it’s an instant throw, and when they do start doing something you have Throw Clash to protect the thrower.
:wtf: Why not just make throws fast again so you have to make the opponent actually make a choice.? They did in FS.
I’m sure the old post are still there at VFDC so you can read up on them, since I’m probabaly wrong on somethings, except where 0f and TC were concerned since those were just dumb.
The MTE thing is just that the throw game is too homogenized and only have 3 directions to worry about, but with 1 throw break. In earlier the VF4s and Vanilla VF5 (and R) there were certain directions that you always wanted to input against certain characters for the most part, because of damage. The risk/reward does aspect makes it more. The caveat is that you could get away with doing 1 TE in the older games depending on how good you were at reading your opponent.
I’m sad to see it go, but on the other hand since execution isn’t really a factor anymore (save for some hit-throws and certain attacks) the game now has an even heavier concentration on reads.
This game answeres the question of “How to make execution not as daunting for newcomers, but keep it so the hardcore are rewarded”.
I kinda miss MTEs as well, but that’s partly because the current throw system dicks Lei Fei over a little bit.
Historically, though, getting thrown a lot has been a big source of frustration for new VF players, and the thought of having to input multiple throw breaks within a fraction of a second can be off-putting. I think a potentially larger player base is a more-than-fair trade for nerfed (though still very strong) throws.
So, Im sorry if sound scrubby or something, but I didn;t find the info I was looking for on the first page and searching for the info using google and the thread search are not working well for me. I just want to know if any non-dlc customization items will come with and be available when I purchase final shodown? I played the original ps2 version of 4 and loved it (mained Vanessa) and the info wont keep me from getting the game but I want to get as much info as possible before I come to a decision concerning dlc.
EDIT: nevermind. Found what I was looking or while searching for system changes here http://virtuafighter.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/321759/1 .
besides default costumes, all customizations will be sold separately.
I love VF.
Goodbye.
