I had to rejoin SRK just because I heard about this game.
Really want to learn that Jean Kujo. Never been a VF player before but I said if they brought this game to the States, I’d take the time to learn it.

How much do you guys think this will cost I would be happy to spend £40 but being an downloadable title I’m calling £15-£20
I wonder if Japan will get boxed version.
Next summer can’t come soon enough, I need a man’s game like Virtua Fighter. I really wanna re-learn Brad, and Eileen as well (not to mention play dress up with her lol).
It’s the Brad show!
Can’t wait to go back to playing VF5 after I traded my 360 for a PS3. But Jean does look tempting, i might have to put Brad on the side for a bit.
Not sure how applicable it’ll be but VFDC has a rather comprehensive VF5 system guide on their site. It’s useful to at least see how Virtua Fighter basic combat is conducted (even if the subsystems of FS are different than vanilla 5).
What’s wrong with VFDC’s site? It’s brings up an error message when I open up the site.
Did you use this url? -> http://virtuafighter.com
They made some new changes today, added a new column and a twitter feed. Its up running now.
This is incredible news, I cannot wait for this game to drop. I’m going to be rusty as all hell (and I was never that good to begin with, my win/loss record in ranked for VF5 was 10 wins 130 losses or something), but I’ve always found VF to be so much sheer fun to play since VF2, I know i’ll be sinking hours upon hours into it.
I also feel like I should point out to anyone new to the series- this game isn’t as hard to pick up on a basic level as many reviewers and websites will make out. While you can spend years and years mastering it, to pick up the basics and have fun and learn the game is really easy thanks to (IMO) a very simple control scheme and very intuitive system. If it comes with an extensive training mode, all the better!
Is it better to prepare using 4Evo’s training mode or 5’s closer gameplay?

Great match here. Lei is considered low tier but he’s still hella scary to fight against. Sooooo many mixups, same with Sarah.
If you’ve NEVER played VF, VF4:Evo training mode is the better place to start. But the change in speed from VF4 to 5 is definitely different.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
I refuse to believe Sarah is low tier.
She’s only a troll online cause of lag, but all in all she a great character. The trick to beating her is know that a lot of her moves(and 90% of Akira) are linear with very slow circulars.
I put a lot of Vids up here
Despite what anyone says, none of the VF series have made big leaps in gameplay. Yes, there are much more changes than other games between versions, but you can learn the basics of VF from VF3 if that is all you had.
I felt like VF4 had the best tutorials, though.
Sarah’s mid-high in this game. WAY better than she was iin vanilla.
It’s not like this game is so broken that characters need to be fearful of other characters. Everyone can put forth a good effort and win.
Anyway, I’m really hung up on what needs to be done to get the fighting game crowd at large excited about this. I want to use Facebook but I don’t really know the best avenue. We live in a time where talking to a wide audience is easier than ever. It’s still a year out, that should be enough time to at least raise awareness.
Hey Shiny, thanks for linking the thread. Great vids, btw;
I also noted that you were helping some Tekken players regarding the system and characters and such. So, can you answer me some questions? (I may be not the only one with these as well):
Does Eileen plays like (or have her gameplan resemble to) a Tekken character?
Also, what about Taka-arashi? I noticed he even has some moves aesthetically similar to Ganny - but outside that, they’re alike in any way (strong pokes and hit-confirms, etc)?
I know, VF seems really extremamely different from Tekken - sorry if these questions are that stupid - but I just wanna start right.
Thanks in advance. <3
That’s wrong. VF3 is a completely different game to the others. There was a lot of changes between VF2 to 4 but far less from VF4 to 5
I dunno, I could be completely off. I’m speaking from my personal experience and not as a pro/tourney player. In my opinion, I understood the fundamentals of the game from VF2. When playing VF3 & 4, they have added new elements, but the basics - even the basic, essential moves and throws - did not change at all. I used Jacky in 2 and Aoi in 3 & 4.
The game is insanely balanced and I think that is the reason a lot of basic moves for the characters do not change. Yes, some controls shifted around and new things were added, but if you wanted to learn Wolf, you can learn a lot from previous games that will still be valid and apply in the current iteration.
They added that “Dodge” button in VF3 but took it back off for VF4.
Yeah, but see, that’s what I’m saying: they removed the evade button and replaced it with Up and Down tapping (and, depending on whether an attack is coming in properly, you’ll move differently), but the evade concept is still there. It’s the same principle applied differently, and it didn’t take much time to get used to the improvement.
Is it fundamentally different?
