Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown console thread

I don’t think I’m able to contain my excitement for getting my hands on Lei Fei. The first time I ever saw a VF5 video it was love at first sight with this guy.

Jacky vs Kage finals? Yay!

Edit: Wait there’s more

Awww, was hoping to see Chibitarou take it. Too bad about that dropped combo off the wall splat. His defense is pretty amazing though.

Can’t wait for this game! XD

  1. Will the items brought, rewarded, and DLC’d from VF5 transferr over to VF5FS? and if they don’t, will they be obtainable the same way? (since I read that 10k items will be Dlc).

  2. Well techincally this isn’t a direct question about the game it self…but after watching alot of the replays, is there a link to a video of all of the animations from the fighter’s intros from vf.net thing? I find alot of Brad’s amusing as well as the one of Akira running into the wall and when he does the twitching peace sign.

From what it sounds like, all the items will be paid DLC this time around. They haven’t annoucned pricing or how it’s going to work just yet though.

Play VF5. Its a good game.

A lot of talk about the fighting game gods in Capcom fighters, but he is definitely a VF god no questions asked.

This should be on the front page. It was definitely meant for publicity, therefore it should get it.

Chibita’s been a VF god since before he was a teenager, if I recall. Hard to think of another player in any game who’s been so consistent for such a long time.

I would LOVE to have VF4:FT or EVO brought XBLA with the graphics of the arcade version and not the PS2 versions.

NOPE!

We have to save the front page for news worthy posts like the Guile theme on violin.

“That’s the story of my life, no respect, I don’t get no respect at all”

Street Fighter has a Beast.

But Virtua Fighter has a God.

I remember watching him beasting in like VF3 TB videos a long time ago.

I wonder if any of the old old VF1/2 top players are still playing or if they’re all out now.

I gave VF3tb a shot last night.

I quite like it. It’s actually a really good fighting game in my opinion, why is it so poorly regarded among the VF faithful?

Heck, I’d even say they should have kept the Evade button. The only thing I didn’t particularly like was the game seems to have a poor sense of what hitstun is (every attack, unless it knocks down, seems to have identical recovery).

Who said VF3TB was bad?

It’s not well-regarded. Partially because Genki did the porting but also because the Evade button is disliked.

But I don’t really see why. I like the Evade button (I know the concept still exists in Virtua Fighter but it no longer is bound to a button).

For what it’s worth, at VFDC there are people who still swear by VF3TB. A lot of the old guard still playing VF5 in Japan were VF3TB players, including Chibita. I think it has a lot of interesting ideas, but I wasn’t around for it. I started with VF4 and learned VF4E in depth, so I gotta disclaim that upfront anyways. I thought VF5 was a step back in some ways, and I lost a lot of enthusiasm for the game itself and having other things going on at the time unrelated to gaming.

Regarding VF3, though, there were a lot of concepts that the series abandoned in favor of standardizing the game like VF2, or something like that I suppse. I think the problem is that VF3 alienated a lot of people expecting something more along the lines of VF2 in the US, and the Model 3 was top of the line rendering tech in 1996 – and arcade operators didn’t want to invest in something so elaborate if the players didn’t like the game. So, players had to stick with the DC version of VF3TB (I guess it was a really minimal port or something?) until VF4 came out in '02 for PS2. That’s how I understood the situation at least.
