This post is nasty because on the same page there is a video guide for VF5…
I was actually referring to this post. I’m curious as to what he’s got in mind.
This is great.
So is this.
But I would also like to see something like this…

Legitimacy mixed with humor can go a long way. Maybe someone will make that Goh tactics/combo vid set to the Bed Intruder song I’ve been imagining a reality unless I somehow magically obtain video editing skills.
Please flood the internet with tailor-made videos designed to both entertain and inform me about a game I will buy, whine about on SRK and shelve in 4 weeks tops. Gotcha.
I picked up VF4:Evo for literally a couple bucks. Plan on getting the basics down in the training mode, then switching to VF5, which can also be had for a few dollars, and using the online guide.
I would suggest this route for most people who haven’t really played the game.
It’s not about flooding like the butt-ton of SFIV and MvC3 training vids that are a dime a dozen and having to wade through a sea of crap to find worthwhile stuff. We don’t need that. People on SRK will still drop any game regardless. This is** **SRK we’re dealing with, after all and those resources aren’t for them or all the other glorified stream monsters. It’s for creating attention and drawing in new players who are serious.
Just make good quality stuff that stands out with a unique presentation and genuine learning material and not highlight the crap from some random Johnny-come-lately who doesn’t have a real grasp on things.
So the vid is only a minute long?
The iTunes version is 3 minutes.

Of course, there could be some snazzy intro with Antoine footage describing Goh as said rapist or something. I probably should draw up a storyboard or something on a loose napkin.
Then again, given the state of recent events in regards to the internet, it might not be possible after all.
I was wondering if what you are asking about is already available on VFDC > The New Starter Forum - http://virtuafighter.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/forums/63/1/New%20Starter . The idea behind that section was to make it less daunting for people. Is the New Starter section still too daunting to people or is there a certain amount of “ego” to players that they skipped that section (I am a veteran to fighting games, I can just skip the New Starter section)? It definitely can be improved upon, but I feel that the very basics to VF are covered in there.
Maybe majority of the people will ignore the tutorials and stuff, but I think if it is used by even just one person and that person finds it helpful, then the tutorial has served its purpose. It never hurts to have more stuff available to people, so I look forward to seeing your work, Worstplayer!
Is there something like a “A Tekken player’s introduction to VF” guide or something? Something like that would help a lot people like me. Just a general comparison between the similarities of the systems in both games and how to think the game from a Tekken player’s perspective or something like that.
So who wants to actually be in Final Showdown?

Watch I end up as a 9th Kyu scrub again like in Vanilla VF5.
I liked the silly names the opponents had in Quest mode. Along side known top players of course.
I’m so entering the cast from Violence Fight.

I don’t think so. The problem is finding someone with a great deal of knowledge of both games and also give a non-biased analysis of both games–which very few people are qualified and willing to put time to make a tutorial. If I remember correctly, there was a fairly knowledgeable player on “Avoiding the Puddle” Podcast that seems to explain the differences between Tekken and VF fairly objectively.
I think if someone was well versed in both games, they would not be biased. And honestly, I think the time it takes to learn both of these games to an expert degree indicates a maturity that would automatically negate any dumb “Game A vs Game B” nonsense.
I do have a question relating to this though:
Can someone point me towards a post or just tell me if there are any motions in VF5 that are similar in effectiveness AND difficulty to Tekken’s BDC or wavedashing? I can’t seem to get BDC without a pad, and I’m hoping I can play VF on a stick.
Terms of the contest state it’s for US residents only? Or will they not care if some random euro head starts emailing in? I got my name in VF5 by doing this last time (Snowman - Goh) so I felt like trying my luck again.
In VF, the movement system is “better” in a way that you don’t need any fancy tehniques to move fast and efficiently as all characters in VF can crouch dash back and forward. From what I’ve played vanilla VF5, crouchdashing backwards seemed like a fast way to move back and just dashing forward to go forward. I used the crouchdashing like BDC by doing it db,b,db~db,b,db~db,b,db… (really just mashing db on the d-pad) But you can just backdash fast too by just mashing b,b. I play on pad.
Also, what’s fun to note about VF is that crouch punch (d+P with atleast Akira) is a true low instead of a special mid like in Tekken. I guess that’s why you see it being used a lot since it’s fast too.
I’m entering the contest so many times.

Rolling GOOOOOOOOOOO~!
Are you trying to insinuate Srider is a johnny-come-lately who doesn’t understand VF? I really don’t know what you mean, the damn vids and tutorials are there, they make sense, and they’ve existed for a long time for both VF4E and VF5 – so nearly a decade at this point?. VF4E’s tutorial mode is more than enough to get you started and I’m pretty sure Sega knows how to play VF… just a hunch. Akai is gently guiding you to the place you need to be to learn about VF. That’s more effort than this thread is worth, in my honest opinion.
It isn’t a true low, it’s a special low that can actually be blocked high and low, so it does work like a tekken special mid in that small respect. It “crushes” highs to use a tekken term, and it’s also a speedy attack. It’s used frequently because it’s useful for interrupting attacks and getting the advantage.
Why do you keep posting about this game when you don’t even know the most basic things about it?
