Let me correct myself: Online is pretty much dead, aside from VFDC players who will wreck anybody new to this game.
Hey I’m one of those guys. But I try to teach the new guys the core fundamentals of the game. Just bring a mic there a lot of stuff and I don’t want to write it down.
Are the differences between Ver. B and Ver C. system mechanics or just frame data and hitboxes?
PS3 version is cheaper and I’m not going to play online anyway, so if it’s the latter, I can just use the cheapest version to learn the game.
Well if you really want to learn how the system works. VF4 evo teaches you everything from tech throws to juggles. It also has the hardest quest mode ever with real player data. Just for ps2. But imo the best way to get good at a game is by playing players and asking question.
Wrong thread, bro.
Oops o_O
The 360 version also has more options to work with in the practice mode, improved AI, more custom items and a different set of match vids. I don’t play online at all but if I need to get back into practice for an offline gathering/event the improved AI and practice mode on 360 really make a difference. The AI’s pretty impressive, there’s a lot more variation in it’s behaviour than even VF4Evo’s AI had. Just make sure to raise the difficulty to max and get up to the higher ranks so the best ones start to show up.
Thanks.
Jean’s Touch of Death combo against a wall. Super situational but still cool to see.
This is a bit of a late response, but the vf community overall (Including those that play online) is among the absolute friendliest and most helpful FG community internet resources that you’ll ever find.
That’s probably because they understand what’ll happen to their community if they drive people away with SERIOUS BUSINESS and elitism. Unlike other fighting game scenes, they don’t have the population to spare. If they lose someone, that’s hurts.
The 360 version is the better version and I’ll go into detail (and if you are in the US, the 360 version is 7.99 used at Gamestop). For the record, I mostly play my PS3, but for VF5 the 360 version is the one to play. Here are the main advantages of the 360 version of VF5:
-
Online Play (sadly the PS3 version does not have online play).
-
360 is Version C as you know (which is mostly adjustments to some properties and frames–but Version C is more balanced than B–things that standout in memory is Pai and Shun were stronger in Version B though Shun is plenty strong in Version C).
-
The AI in the PS3 version is really bad. Its gameplay generally makes no sense and for characters from VF4 Evo/Final Tuned, it seems to try to play with their VF4 movelists. The AI in the 360 version is actually good–not amazing, but it’s good and you’ll at least have to play properly against it. I think Evo’s AI was even better, but the 360 AI is far better than average when compared to fighting game AIs in general (without cheating like the old school Mortal Kombat games lol).
-
As a small bonus, the 360 version includes replays, most of which are top players who were playing high level VF5 for the time that the 360 version was released.
-
360 version has achievements if you care hehe. PS3 version came out before the trophy system. Again, only if you care.
Shoutout to Reno, simply because of watching Anaguma’s Jacky, I’m inspired to keep practicing Jacky’s iageri version C combos and make more use of his varied strings and setups while I wait for Final Showdown
I messed with Jacky a bit when I played FS at PAX and he seemed to be the easiest character to transition from VF5© to FS(A). Though what’s inspiring me is watching Anaguma’s Jacky and the various situations he was exploiting (especially the back-turned K lol).
lmao this happens anyway. however, the genuinely nice people will be nice regardless. guaranteed.
VF5 English commentary
MAXIMUM DAMAAAAAAAGE!
Whatever happens I want to either be able to disable the announcer altogether or have straight JPN announcers. I recall the ENG announcers sounding so damn horrible it was if they were commenting on a golf match.
Kinda interested in learning Brad and Jean.
^I want to use Japanese announcers just for ‘DUBBEL HAMMAH’
NIIICE!
