the strategy guide claims his health has gone up from 880,000 to 950,000

if this is true, this is a huge buff…

well shoot…whenever i tried it, it never worked lol. oh well!

There is a 3 air special limit. If you do 3 special moves in the air you can’t do another special or super.

Joes health was over 900,000 in MvC3, although it wasn’t 950. Either the original guide was wrong or Joe’s secretly went up during one of the patches.

It was 950k in vanilla right? Either that or 900k

What’s the word on his damage output? I played around a bit yesterday but I didnt go in to training to check the numbers out.

I expect clever use of FX slow, Mach Speed and Zoom and plenty of big gun jokes.

It’s active and invincible on the first frame?! That’s really fucking good. It also recovers more quickly than I thought. If you perform a reversal V-Dodge on wake up and cancel it into :m:-Groovy Upper, you can whiff punish meaty cr.:l:s. This basically gives Joe a true DP that’s safe on block and leads to his most damaging combos :looney: Is V-Dodge throw vulnerable? If not, I can’t see a single drawback to this move. I’m going to spam this move like it’s going out of style.

Is it just me, or does his bomb assist seem a LOT better too? I swear it seems way faster and actually usable.

Yo, question about V-Dodge:

Whenever I try canceling it into groovy upper, if my opponent is doing something I get smacked instead of them. Whats up?

Groovy upper has no invincibility.

Anti-air with no invincibility…well that’s not very viewtiful.
I assumed it was hyper cancelable because all specials are in this game, but I didn’t realize it was special cancelable. But the way I see it now following up with most of the specials wont be very useful for punishing:

Shocking Pink Bomb - not gonna do you much good
Voomerang- probably will get snuffed out
Groovy Uppercut - no invincibility

So it seems like its two uses are a) cancel into mach speed for a longer invincibility/punish window and b)to style on fools.

Edit: I don’t know if this old news/common knowledge at this point, but I haven’t seen anyone talk about it; Joe can combo into Air Desperado after his forward air throw. I don’t have an OTG assist on my team, so I’m glad I can tack on extra damage with solo Joe. Air throw to super does about 320k. He can’t do TK Desperado after his ground throw.

It’s because you’re cancelling into Groovy Upper as soon as possible, during the active frames of your opponent’s move. Just wait a bit longer; you need to cancel into Groovy Upper during the recovery frames of your opponent’s move.

V-Dodge > Groovy Upper isn’t supposed to beat your opponent’s meaty pressure outright. The idea is that V-Dodge makes moves whiff, and then you punish them with Groovy Upper. This is a really important concept, and I think it will ultimately shape the way V-Joe is played. The potential here is enormous.

wow, I think V. Joe crouching Medium has more range. Back in vanilla, it always whiffs on sentinel and on other characters as well. Doing a crouching light. cr. L > cr. M seems to work on sentinel now.
