Fuck that game. The game where being second is better than being first.
Shadow the Hedgehog. I brought that game during my freshman year after winning second place in a Martin Luther King speech contest. I loved the game to death - but that was I also the same time I got back into fighters. Over a two year period of time, I began to hate that game so much because realize how bad it was. Actually, the game isn’t bad… but it’s based on Sonic the Hedgehog. It would have been better if it were a brand new game series altogether.
Definitely Pokemon. It’s the reason I hate turn-based combat.
Contra…I don’t have the patience for it now…Konami code or not…
I’m gonna be this guy. The original THPS. I played the trial of the HD version on xbox and it just felt so stiff control wise I don’t know how I ever fucking played it.
Though I do remember no lifing the shit out of it when no one was playing outside as a little kid.
Pokemon. I love battling other people, but I hate all of the in-game bullshit. Also, IVs can go die in a hole.
Oh yeah I used to like the 16 bit wrestling games for SNES and Genesis. Terrible.
I used to love RC Pro Am, I have no idea why, I can’t stand that game now. The controls + godlike AI makes the later levels ridiculous.

I pretty much agree the last JRPG I ever played was Skies of Arcadia. Turn based is boring and no current RPG has caught my attention in recent memory.
I only played the first TMNT game on NES because it was really the only choice… there was no other option in terms of a home version of a Ninja Turtles game. There’s no way I would tolerate playing that trash again, unless someone paid me for it. The underwater section was also such garbage… the whole game was a complete disaster in every way. Besides… with the actual arcade version, the old SNES Turtles in Time, and the Turtles in Time that’s on Live Arcade/PSN(despite being quite disappointing)…why would anyone go back and play the first one now? The very existence of that first game actually irks me. TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan on Gameboy…yeah, even that was better than that piece of shit on NES.
…and Simon’s Quest… I loved it at the time. The only thing I like about it now is the music. It ended in such a pitiful moment… Dracula in that particular game was the first disappointing final boss I remember. I suppose it’s because Simon Belmont at that point is way overpowered compared to the rest of the game… but Dracula appears… you throw a Gold Knife and hit him a couple of times with a flame whip and just like that, he’s DONE. Everything leading up to that fight is awesome… then the fight itself is over in literally 3 or 4 seconds, and you’re like… “…what? That…that’s it?”
Getting that game was not really your fault, though. I mean, right after making an exceptional black power speech, what other colour of Sonic would you buy? Whitey the Hedgehog??
Oh that. I meant to say that I had a $50 gift card from the said speech - and I spent $30 of it on that game (with the last $20 being spent on Tekken Tag, KOFMI2, and food products). Back then, I was happy as hell! But now, I can’t stand it, despite having played through the entire game itself unlocking the endings and everything. I don’t really mind the prequels however. Another point to make is that this is also where the series in general started to fall apart and I failed to realize at the time.
I only find myself playing the first two generations of Pokemon. Anything else after that is dead to me, now. Shortly after BW came out, I called it quits and resorted to using emulators of the older games.
I can’t play Pokemon unless its on PC. playing it at 700% speed is cool.
but other than that, I don’t know of a game I won’t play again. If it didn’t catch my attention then, why would it now?
That game, Kappa.
Capcom brought me here, I love Ono.
You need to look at the Wii, buddy. JRPGs are thriving. They’re all Action RPGs, too
Read above
Hmm…
I played a lot of shitty fighting games on the SNES. Some I knew were shitty even back then, but I still played them a lot. Games like Justice League Task Force, Rise of the Robots, Primal Rage, etc.
I also was a very avid fan of the Neo Geo back in the day (still am), but a lot of the games I really loved back then have not aged very well at all. It’s hard for me to go back and play anything before Fatal Fury 3, for example. (I still enjoy FF3, though.) KOF’94 and '95 are also games I find very hard to go back to. All the SamShos I enjoyed back in the day I still enjoy, they’ve managed to age pretty well.
Oh yeah, my first fighter ever, Street Fighter I. I loved that game back when I was in pre-school and couldn’t tell my left from my right. God knows, it’s hard to go back to that game now.
Faxanadu.
Playing it now, the jumping physics are pretty terrible, as is the way you attack.

spiderman for the 2600 was my shit when I was 6.
The first two Tekken games. I use to play those two games to death on the PS1 when I was a child. When Tekken 5 was released and came packed with the first three games as a bonus I was excited. That excitement died when I played them. They aged so horribly. Tekken 3 is still fine though.
Which version? Dreamcast or Gamecube
