Video Game Music Thread Ver. Once More With FEELING!

Has anyone been able to find the old-school remixes that play during each characters intros and epilogues in Street Fighter IV? I’d really love to have them all, especially the Rose and Dan themes.

So I went to Video Games Live tonight. Oh man it was fuckin awesome. If it comes anywhere near me again I’m definitely going again. I would suggest that if a showing does happen to come near where you live that you should go to it at least once in your life time. I gotta hunt down that cd of some of their life performances. If any of you guys happen to stumble across a link to dl it I’d appreciate it if you let me know.

watcha guys think on shinji hosoe mixes in rockman 15 ann techno remixes? I found them really good, SPECIALLY QUICKMAN

Is there another version out there? The volume on that is pretty low and I want to make it into a ring tone.

My fav. themes from that OST include-
Jin’s theme
Jin vs. Noel (I LOVE the guitar riff)
Under Heaven Destruction
Noel’s theme
Bang ‘yo ass’ Shishigami’s Theme

Does anyone know where to find the Battle Fantasia OST?

Oh could someone link to remixes of themes, where the remix is just a speed metal sort of remix?

What did they play? Details! Details!

Just my fav themes from a game I just replayed: Megaman Legends. I never realized it had so many catchy tunes. Underrated OST imho even though they loop quite quickly.

In order:

 1. Epic stuff. Like the strings in this.

 2. Ive remembered this theme for so many years.

3.Nice simple theme for one of the final bosses.

 1. Its a shame this theme only comes up during one small section of the game. I goofed around just to hear it a bit longer.

 2. Despite the fact that this theme loops very quickly, I CANT get it out of my head (maybe the quick loop is the reason why). It should be like some mandatory elevator music or somethin’. I think the first mission in MML 2 is a remix of this. Gonna play that next.

oh you want details of what they played and what happened? Lemme see… This is the stuff that the Paphlet says they played/ events:

Classic Arcade
Metal Gear Solid
God of War
Space Invaders
Sonic
Civilization IV
Final Fantasy Piano Solo
Metroid
Zelda
Medal of Honor
Kingdom Hearts
Warcraft
Mario
Mario Piano Solo
Chrono Cross / Chrono Trigger
Interactive Guitar Hero
Halo Suit and Halo 3
One Winged Angel (that’s right…One Winged Angel got a section alll to itself lol)
Castlevania Rock

Tommy Tallarico was there and he was playing guitar (he’s pretty awesome at it too I might add) and was there. Seeing Martin Leung do this shit right in front of you was insane. This guy I believe got more claps and encouragement out of most of the events in the show (not counting the orchestra since they’re there the entire time). Jack Wall (Mass Effect) was also there and he was conducting the orchestra and the chorus.

Hearing the music so beautifully done was so crazily good to my ears and whoever it was that was behind the editing of the videos and stuff to go with the music was awesome. I think I almost shed a tear for some of this stuff. The orchestra was especially powerful on Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear Solid. During the Metal Gear Solid section they had a guy dressed up as a guard come out and he had this awesome backpack that extended out a bright exclamation point over his head and Tommy snuck out onto the stage after the soldier in a cardboard box lol. Space invaders was an interactive segment where they got someone to come out from the crowd and basically play space invaders with his body…they were tracking where he was on the stage basically making himself the ship. They gave him 2 minutes try to clear out all the enemies while the orchestra would play in accordance to what was going on. This guy was loaded with fail…even with Tommy yelling at him several times to shoot the invaders on the sides and he just didn’t do it. When the section was over someone from the crowd immediately yelled out ‘NOOOB!!!’.

Oh yeah the crowd was fuckin awesome. People were just randomly screaming out Shoryuken and Hadoken and were yelling out requests for Freebird at Tommy as well as Street Fighter. They actually should add Street Fighter to the list of stuff that they play.

The Interactive Guitar Hero section was kinda cool. They had a guitar hero tournament before the concert and won got to go up on stage and play guitar hero in front of EVERYONE…and instead of actually hearing the song Tommy and the orchestra instead played the song (song was ‘Sweet Emotion’ by Aerosmith). They were only going to let him play on Hard mode…but the kid was like ‘bump it up!’ and the crowd was behind it all the way. Tommy looked like he wasn’t sure about it for a moment but I think the crowd made him give the ok . I was ready for this guy to fail and look like a pompous ass lol. He instead beat the record that had been set by the highest person to come up on stage to play it and became the guitar hero champion for VGL.

Overall the concert was just oozing awesome but, there were a few things that I personally had a problem with in terms of music. 1st one being that for the Sonic section…they only stuck with Sonic 1…that was it. :frowning: It was a medley of the first sonic game nothing from 2 or 3k which I felt was a big oversight…and of course I’d be the one to notice it as a Sonic fan. It was still really good but just sticking sonic 1 didn’t sit well with me considering Mario got a medley of songs from 4 dif games.

The Zelda section I felt needed to be worked on considering they didn’t stray far at all from the main theme. In fact I don’t even think I remember hearing too many of the other themes…IF they even played them because every other part seemed like the main theme. Zelda has some great music to pick from and to just stick that close to the main theme sort of saddened me…again it was still great nontheless.

Halo…again it was great and I knew they going to do the Halo theme but i didn’t know which version they were going to do. When Tommy was out there with the guitar I was like ‘YES!’ and when it came to the part came up to play that guitar Tommy came to the center of the stage and started to play the hell out of that thing and I was like ‘YEEEEESSSSS!!!’. Then Tommy disappointed me…by not doing certain sections of the Mjolnir Mix that I feel are important to that version of the song.

Halo 2 Mjolnir Mix:

If you’re going to play any type of semblance of this song…PLEASE be prepared to play 1:29 - 1:37 and 1:52 - 2:23. I just felt he took the easy way out of it especially after pumping me up like that? Again it was still awesome it just didn’t live up to my expectations.

One Winged Angel section…I was not expecting them to to try to do an Advent Children version of the song. The song was still kick ass but there were sections of guitar parts that let me down that I can’t remember exactly what they were. I’m a big guitar guy ( duh ) so I could be being a bit to critical.

GET THIS BEFORE IT GOES AWAY!

His Mega Man remixes sound KILLER…and for some of the songs, I don’t think you want to know the lyrics to the Crash Man song. He makes the robots gay. LITERALLY. But the songs are fucking CATCHY.

I haven’t posted something from OC in awhile…but I think it’s mostly cause a lot of stuff that’s been getting posted up I’ve been unfamiliar with…IN ANY CASE!

Chrono Trigger 'Corrupter of Time’

yes…it has a guitar…and yes it’s fuckin awesome.   This one is based off of the source track ‘Corridor of Time’ and apparently this guy tried to mimic Sixto’s Sound a bit from what I read on the track while I was listening to it. Not to shabby IMO.

Super Metroid 'Heat Vision’

this was done by DarkSword and it came off of the Reserve Tank: VARIAations album. It’s based off the ‘Norfair Ancient Ruins Area’ and ‘Theme of Super Metroid’. Very nice on the ears.

Donkey Kong Country 'Flying with the Funk’

The source track is ‘Funky’s Fogue’. I didn’t know what to think about this mix…at first. I had to listen to it a few more times and then listen to the source track. It almost sounded like for a moment the it was hard to hear the source in it for me at first but then after listening to the original and going back I was like ‘ohhhhh…’ I barely remember that part of the song. I don’t know what you guys think but I can dig it.

Final Fantasy VI 'Inspector Strago’

Source is ‘Birth of a God’ and ‘Strago’. I can’t even really remember the source tracks…but I thought this was tight. I especially loved 1:52 - 2:16 ( I remember that from what I’ve played of the game). It’s pretty electronica sounding as well but it has a beat to it. It also ends pretty abruptly too.

Castlevania 'Transylvanian Temptation’

Source is ‘Vampire Killer’ and ‘Wicked Child’. I was really iffy about this track…but I loved these guys’ Punch-out track and I figured if other people dug it they might like this one. (If you haven’t listened to they’re Punch-out track before…I HIGHLY reccomend it… Punch-Out!! ‘Little Mac’s Confession’) Mostly was iffy on this cause I wasn’t in complete agreement with the lyrics… Their sound reminds me of something and I couldn’t think about it until just recently…It reminds me of ‘You Wa SHOCK!’ a tiny bit lol. Guitar’s awesome though

Super Dodge Ball 'Breakbeat Market’

Source is ‘Theme of Team China’. I never played Super Dodge Ball sadly…so I’m completely unfamiliar with this but i figured someone who has played and heard it might dig this. Apparently there is an album in the works for this game.

Gradius III 'Declaration of War’

Source is ‘Cosmo Plant’. I haven’t played much Gradius either…but I know a good number of guys around here have. OA helped out with this so I was expecting awesome and from what I heard…I got it. Don’t be fooled by that piano in the beginning lol.

These are a few WIP that some guys are working on that sounds like it could have some potential

Metroid Prime ‘Glaciers Never Sleep’

source would be ‘Phenandra Drifts’.

Super Mario 64 ‘Choir Docks’

source is ‘Jolly Roger Bay/Dire Dire Docks’. very mellow and chill. And a guy named The Damned showed up in the thread on this mix…I wonder if it’s SRK’s The Damned

Mega Man 9 ‘Tornado Man’

I think this track has a chance of being EPIC if he does it correctly.

The temporary web page for the Zelda: Oracle of Ages project is up

thread:

I didn’t know Advent Children complete had it’s on OST. Apparently they redid One Winged Angel…AGAAAAAAAINNNN.

remastered the instruments…and added an extra section to the track…youtube is horribly messing the sound up…but I can tell despite this that if i were to listen to this in it’s pure form it’d be

Seriously though how many times are they gonna remake this song? lol

One Winged Angel is like that song that gets overplayed on a radio station, and it just won’t go away. Then that same song gets a remix. :looney:

Yeah, One Winged Angel is pretty damn overrated.

God YES. Some idiot spoiled it for everyone else with that song on GamingFM a long time ago. You used to be able to pick 4 or 5 songs to play in a row, but someone kept picking those 20-minute long Final Fantasy songs, and thus I gained a HATE for One-Winged Angel. They turned it down to 1 request every hour. LORD that song is SO overrated.

The song is awesome…but it getting so much attention like it does makes it lose it’s luster. Thing is though you basically can’t have Seph without that song. I find it funny also that it basically became his theme song other than the one that always played in the game whenever he was around.

Those Chosen By The Planet:

I’ve barely heard them ever go back to that song when dealing with him anymore.

Nice to see this thread has still been thriving while I was gone. :lovin:

I’m on a huge Street Fighter II audio kick right now. Been jamming to the numerous console version soundtracks. Think I throw together a compilation album of all the home versions of SFII after hearing them all.

Oh and King of Fighters music is that hotness!!!

Fans of portal may want to be interested in listening to this…

Portal 'Live from [Subject Hometown Here]'

The source being of course ‘Still Alive’. Apparently the University of Maryland’s Gamer Symphony Orchestra did this to end one of their concerts. It’s quite interesting!

You guys check out that Hyadain MM music yet?

I heard the first four takes he did. Great stuff. My fav is the Metal Man song. Last I heard, he did one on Bubble Man.

Double Dragon Collection
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FO0LZRMJ

This has music from the following;

Double Dragon (NES, GBA)
Double Dragon II (NES)
Double Dragon III (NES, Arcade)
Super Double Dragon

I posted this in the MvC2 thread in FGD but i figured ill post it here as well…

With custom soundtracks, is anyone from SRK doing any arrangements/remixes themselves?

Im arranging the OST myself. Using the OG music but making it more dynamic instead of so laid back.

Anyone? Ill probably upload the music to my Youtube acct after i host the MP3s for DL.
