I just finished Henry Hatsworth recently, and the final boss theme is pretty beast. Give it a listen!
Gametrailers did a BackTrack segment on Super Metroid that was pretty nice
I really wish music composers of triple AAA titles would think more about making music memorable while setting the mood instead of just putting in orchestral scores equivalent to a moody movie setting. Music can go a long way in remembering and sticking with players. Hearing music from games in the past instantly brings up visuals in my head of that specific point in that game and what was going on, canāt say the same for too many games Iāve played that have been made by western developers.
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior āShoto Spiritsā by Brosynthe, The Duke, and Trenthian
Sources are āAkuma Stage ~ Killing Moonā, āKen Stageā, āRyu Stageā, āStage Sakuraā, āTheme of Akuma ~ SFIV Arrangeā, and āTheme of Goukenā. Poor poor Seanā¦they put included every shoto in this mix but you eh? I had been sitting on this mix for a minute as i was kind of unsure about it for whatever reason. When I came back to it I pretty much got over itā¦maybe it was the fact that when I heard Jon St. John doing Akumaās voice I ended up getting a picture of weird mixup of Akuma and Duke Nukem together as if they had did the fusion dance. In any case, this is a pretty nice rockin arrangement that weaves in an out of all the themes. Thereās not really much talking save for little clips and small speeches from Ryu, Ken, and Akuma. Usage of the effects from the games was pretty well done as well. If I had one complaint, it would be how the section right after Akuma speaks sounds. Itās not the guitarsā¦but something else thatās entirely to high for me and sounds like if I listened to it for 2 long Iād end up getting a headache. LOVE the fact that a Shakuhachi is used in this.
Sonic 3D Blast āRusty Fingersā by Dr. Manhattan
Sources are āRusty Ruin Zone Act 2 (Gen)ā and āMystic Cave Zoneā. Dat BASSā¦love it. Both rockin and funky. Having a bit of a hard time pinpointing when exactly Mystic Cave Zone is used at the moment though. There is a part that sounds kinda close to it but upon listening over the Rusty Ruin sourceā¦that part is in there too. Would be interesting if Senoue sequenced that area to make small reference to Mystic Cave. This track also has made me realize that I donāt have either Genesis or Saturnās versions of soundtracks for 3D Blastā¦something I should probably fix.
Edit: Damn, accidentally double posted
We should make a list of all the best composers and OST albums and slap them in the opening post. That way we donāt have to be digging through the thread for stuff we might like.

The whole soundtrack gives me goosebumps.
Iām still annoyed we never got Terranigma in America. Square Enix could at least hook us up with a Virtual Console release.

So where do you guys find your music nowadays? I know FFShrine still works a bit. Any other places to look?
If I canāt find it on FFShrine or Shadowhax0rās site, I rip it straight from youtube
Google usually works when I want a specific album, but there are a few sites I keep tabs on that put up soundtracks I might be interested in. I canāt recall em off the top of my head though.
On the very post is a batch of links to where you can find soundtracks. Some donāt work anymore due to a few sites moving and what not, but a lot of them are still active. I was planning to edit the first post but I canāt seem to edit it.
EDIT: NVM, I just found out where the new edit option is.
Oh boy, itās been a while since a piece has got me amped up like this. I was just doing another random vgm search and came across this tune from Romancing Saga Minstrel Song (never played the game). Instant gym playlist material.
Seriously, if you donāt feel like whoopinā ass of any kind after hearing it, you have a soul equivalent to

Something I wanna post before I head into workā¦My ears are currently have a love affair with āThe Only Thing I Know For Realā from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
The minute you see Jetstream Sam begin to point his sword towards you and the beginning of this track starts upā¦you know youāre about to get your ass beat. Iām post up more personal faves from this soundtrack when I get back.
Metal Gear Rising has one of the best soundtracks this entire gen.
