FF9’s soundtrack is gdlk. Someone made an 8 min long midi remix of the above song and holy shit was it good. I need it in mp3 format, but such a thing doesn’t exist.
I used to be part of the RPG Maker community, so I’ve been exposed to a lot of original music (most in midi format, unfortunately) that sound really, really fucking good. I’ll see if I can link a few here and there.
. I never played FFIX unfortunately…At the time when it came out a lot of people around me were hating on it some kind of fierce (and still are). What are some other standouts from IX?

As far as metal goes, Demetori’s stuff is more my thing, but Taka(the only member of CROWSCLAW) does some really sweet classic rock/blues style shit. This is the only album I’ve heard it on, but I haven’t heard all his albums yet either.
I think Chicken Jam! is my fav from that list.
The haters are hating for hating’s sake. FF9 was the last ‘true’ classic FF. Almost everything in the game, from weapon names to music were homages and inspired by the older, classic FF games. Ridiculously underrated game. If you have a PS3/PS2/PS1/PSP, it’s definitely worth checking out. It’s aged fairly well, imo. It’s hard to argue that FF9’s soundtrack is Nobuo Uematsu’s greatest work, imo. Here are some of my favorites tunes:

That’s it for some good FF9 songs. There are a lot of other good songs that I didn’t list–this is just the ones that stand out the most. If you haven’t heard FF11’s soundtrack, that is a must-hear. Soooooo good.

Thanks I listened to the first couple of them last night and enjoyed what I heard (of course…its Uematsu) and it only took me seconds before I realized I knew [media=youtube]HUC4tnVMCpg"]Assault of the Silver Dragons through the Black Mages. Something in the source that I like in comparison though is the ‘beat’ that kicks in at about :35 that sounds like Lil John’s [URL=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jyk4YkvCJ8#t=0m36s”[/media].
I won’t be able to play the game anytime soon though unfortunately since I don’t feel like trying to dig up a copy of the game on the internets that’s probably at some ridiculous price and I don’t own a PS3 currently. This has rekindled my interest in the game though so if an opportunity to do so I’ll probably try to jump on it.
