Why do the new Forza and Fable not have a number in the title? I mean it’s clear as day they’re both sequels

Because if they have Numbers they can be directly compared to the rest of the series, and people would examine it more. It makes me think if you take away the pretty graphics, the games in their respective series got worst not better.

Reminds me back in the day when games abandoned version number for the year, which was cool at the time but it also heavily makes the game more dated than it should.

No Version/ Sequel number, no year, they are floating there separate and made harder to compare, and to criticize.

Atleast with fable the titles honestly sucked after the first.

It’s probably better to go at it with a new slate, especially after how shit 3 was.

Except it makes talking about the game confusing, because of the wider view of the thing saying just Fable can be confusing without context. If I said Fable 4, you know exactly what I am talking about.
They should of at least include a sub title, Fable: Feast of Kings or Future heroes, Trial of Thrones, New Beginnings, something to go off of instead of just calling it Fable.

Like I never liked how God of War (Dad of Boy) was just GOW and not having something that keeping the title from being confused with the first game. At least Dad of Boy had something visually distinctive and separates from the rest of the series so we have a clear idea what Dad of Boy is about. And we got a funny fan nickname to use in place.

343 removed split screen from Halo 5 so I don’t expect Infinite to have it.

Why does the number matter? It wouldn’t make it less of a sequel having a subtitle over a number.

Because the Sequels are following this stupid trend of just going by the original title/ title of the series as a whole instead of having a number, or subtitle. I know they are trying to “Reinvent” the series, but having the new Fable just called Fable is a disservice. (Nintendo, Sony and various other devs and Studios are guilty of this too).

Marathon isn’t a DOOM clone.

I played Halo for story first.

I misunderstood his post. Fuck going by the default title for a new game.

Yes it is, Bungie even admitted as such. Have you played Marathon, its very much a Doom clone.

In most cases, they just want to move away from it seeming like a sequel because some folk actually do feel when they see numbers on the title of they haven’t played the previous games this means they can’t jump in. Nonsense but that is how folk feel. Hence the sequel that drops the number and subtitles.

Part refresh, part bankruptcy of imagination to come up with something new that they can market.

Yeah this is what I meant

Too many videogame franchises use this naming scheme these days and it does nothing but complicate the discussions taking place.

When somebody says Mortal Kombat, do they mean the 1992 original or the 2011 reboot?
When somebody says Doom, do they mean the 1993 original or the 2016 soft-reboot?
When somebody says Tomb Raider, are they talking about the action-platformer from the 90’s or the Uncharted clone from the 2010’s?
When someone mentions Call of Duty Modern Warfare, is it about the 2007 release, the HD remaster, or the 2019 reboot?

And it keeps happening time and time again
Now it seems that Forza and Fable are also joining the camp

This shit is just stupid

Jesus fuck, almost 100 new posts and most of them are Darksakul beating a moldy horse coprse into the ground. Fuck man. We get it. You don’t like Microsoft. I wish you wouldn’t be such a Po about it.

Did you manage to read any of my posts first?
Or you just want to comment for the sake of commenting?

No it’s not, they are wrong, and yes I have. It plays almost nothing like DOOM. It’s slower, more methodical, you actually have to aim, and DOOM doesn’t ask you stop and read long as fuck logs to understand what the fuck is going on.

Marathon is not a fucking DOOM clone. If it is then so is Hexen and you’d only be able to say that if you never played DOOM or Hexen before because outside of the engine and being fps they aren’t similar.

I’m exaggerating.

I just wish you didn’t feel the incessant need to interject whenever someone even mentions them.

Hexen is running on a modified Doom engine.
But continue…

but…isn’t Hexen literally a doom clone?

So I guess every game in Unreal Engine is an Unreal Tournament Clone to huh?

No. It’s an open world FPS game that runs on the DOOM Engine. If you think that’s all it takes for something to be a DOOM Clone then FF7R is an Unreal Tournament Clone.

Dude you made a direct comment and try to insult me.
And you didn’t expect for a reply?

And for your information, I did try to give MS a chance here.

Okay Radiant. Great missing the point. Are we done now?
