Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

And that’s awesome. We all get different things out of the games we play. We all have different reasons why we play them.

I think if it wasn’t for my nerve damage I would have given it the old college try with T7 and DBFZ. Probably even the last 3 NRS titles. But it is what it is.

When it comes to the “why don’t you play games your friends play” question its because my friends either play games I don’t like (FPS, GTA V Online, Racing sims) or games I no longer feel comfortable playing (Fighters as previously mentioned). Also outside of fighters, beat em ups and Kart racers I’ve never really liked multiplayer games. I’ve just always preferred single player games like platformers, various styles of rpg’s and action adventure games.

I’ve actually been hella slacking on video games lately. Which I knew was going to happen and it did happen shortly after I went back to work. It sucks. I need to find the motivation to start playing again. I was having fun with Pokémon Shield in the beginning but then I stopped playing it due to how all my minor complaints snow balled into big ones.

Now I just can’t find the energy or motivation to play anything.

For those of you without much screen time to yourself, do you only play video games, only watch tv/movies, or split it equally between both in a typical day?

I usually alternate depending on what comes on streaming services. Games are usually the second choice since summer usually is more active. I tend to play games more towards Thanksgiving - February.

This summer is a little different in that without other "fun " activities like movies/dates/etc I have more time to play games.

I have plenty of time for screen time as I only work 3 days a week. But it’s a lot easier to just turn on a show or a playlist of movies I’ve made on iTunes than engaging in a game.

That said, I’d rather be playing a game. It’s just hard for me to get into that mental state of wanting to actively do something. So streaming something is a good fallback.

I have no excuse except mental health issues like depression really sucks

My time has been taken up by my child and my wife mostly. I feel like I barely have time to myself. I have a period of roughly 2 to 2 and a half hours to myself each night now so it becomes a balancing act on what I wanna do. If there’s a game that I really want to jump into then I’ll jump into that but I have SO MANY CHOICES in my backlog. I really just need to start slowly whittling away at stuff but the moment I start something else more enticing come out like Ghost of Tsushima that just distracts me.

this was the great “problem” to have, at least back in the good ol’ times when human civilization wasn’t ruined… deciding what fun thing to do in the off-time. Usually it is a mixture of gaming and tv/movies/music for me…but there are times when I’d like to play something but there’s tons of shows I want to get caught up on…and there’s a huge # of youtube channels I keep up with, many of which often do live streams…it’s not even close to enough time in a day to enjoy all of these entertainment options. (*this always highlights the difference between my generation and my parents’ generation…back in their day, the only fun stuff they really had was likely one television in the house with what…maybe 4 channels of shows? They had that and the radio, and that was about it.)

I got back into some Dragon’s Crown again on lunchbreak today; playing Wizard once again, trying to make it work. It’s interesting that I seem to be having more fun with this character now than back when the game was new… I only played for 1 stage and a boss though—The Gazer, which is an interesting “counter-pick” to the Wizard…if The Gazer is looking at you, magic attacks don’t work.

Online multiplayer has been pretty awesome, when it comes to the Switch.

Splatoon 2
Mario Kart 8 DX
Arms
Daemon Ex Machina

On the PS4 it was

SFV
Titanfall 2
@Gasaraki helping me through the Lost Woods in Bloodborne.

I’d rather not pay a subscription, but since I am, I’m just doing it for Switch. Titanfall 2 and SFV had shit loadtimes. TF2 had the double whammy of being forsaken. At least it was $6.

I primarily play games. Sometimes I watch shows but I’m more likely to binge YouTube content then watch a show.

man, aint your baby brand new? them mofos sleep all the time. play more games

ima try out death stranding in a bit here. looks mad boring but I’ll give it a go.

The only games I play online are fighters and monster hunter. I may play the odd co-op shooter from time to time. I barely used my PS+. Playing Granblue is the only time I use it now.

I only use PS+ basically for fighting games. I used to play Destiny 2 a while back. And I messed around with it for the first in a while the last few days. Since Bungie implemented cross save. I can play my characters on PC if I decide get back into the game. So I wouldn’t need PS+ for it.

I play GTA online with my brothers sometimes. Forgot about that. Been looking for No Mans Sky to play with them to.

Baby is 8 months now. He’s WIDE awake now and vying for both of our attention. He’s in a super grabby stage right now so if you’re trying to do anything within his vicinity he zeros in on that and decides he wants to mess with that too. If there’s something he’s seen us mess with that we’ve been parrying his hands on he’ll be even more determined to get it even when you’re not actually using it. It’s kinda funny how we’ll be trying to watch something and he’ll just flop and climb all over you and you think he wants you…no…he wants the wireless mouse and keyboard that’s on the other side of you lol. And you can’t take your eye off of him be while he’s sitting on the couch cause he has a tendency to toss himself off into oblivion.

Just finished Uncharted 4 and I loved it! I rank the series 4>2>3>1. Is the Lost Legacy worth playing?

Word. I might give it a go.

There I did it. That’s gonna do us absolutely no good but at least I’ll know when you’re playing old video games.
