With all the hype for the new far cry game I decided to play far cry 3. Then I noticed that there was part 4 and 5. I’m playing 5 now. That shit is pretty dope. Got me a dog that I sic on crazy bad guys. Wonder if I can sic him on good guys? Next guy I rescue ima command my beast to attack him. If he dont attack I’ll destroy the beast and hire the guy he wouldnt destroy.

As greedy as most corporations are plus as rigid as Nintendo and Sony are when competition isn’t pushing them… I have my doubts. We would still see the pay for online services model, it just wouldn’t be as generous or far along.
Online paywalls didn’t exist for console games before Xbox Live and I don’t think they would have become a thing if it wasn’t for Live and its “success.” Xbox was bleeding money and Live is the only thing that made their platform a tiny amount of profit. Sony made it a point that PS3 had free netplay during that generation, and once Msoft dropped the ball with the Xbone Sony snuck in the fact that you have to pay2play online and not many people said shit because they were happy they could play used games on their PS4. That or, maybe they didn’t notice until after the fact before it was too late and the decision was made.
It’s greed plain and simple. I can play online for free on Steam and on top of this I get a chunk of Cloud save data(which downloaded themselves onto my new rig which each game reinstall. That blew my mind.) On PS4 if I’m not subbed for ~6 months or so, Sony deletes my cloud save data because fuck you, you didn’t pay your sub fee.
I just let my PS+ expire cause I hate online gaming and getting borderline shovelware every month wasn’t worth it to me
I have NSO for my Switch but I next to never use it for online multiplayer
I let my Plus expire because I find a lot of multiplayer games to be pretty shitty these days. If you don’t like Battle Royale games you’re pretty limited on what to play. 
I noticed that they gave away a ton of dollar store indie titles shortly into the PS4 generation
and when they did give away “AAA” games they were games that were devalued so, so much that you could literally find physical copies for 5-10 bucks. AAA games like Titanfall 2 and Mirror’s Edge that retailers can’t even give away.
Pretty much agreed on both points.
I just find online gaming incredible synthetic. I’m so use to having constant interaction with the people I’m playing games with, whatever they may be that online gaming just isn’t fun to me. Hearing a reactionary voice in my headset isn’t interaction to me.

Also a personal nitpick, if it’s a co-op game I don’t want to be paired with a scrub or have to carry a team of scrubs.
None of that hassle is worth it to me.
I like online gaming but I haven’t found many titles that could “hook” me like they could the past 2 generations. I think the most time I spent playing a game online this gen was one of the Battlefield titles and that is like 20-30 hours at most before I tapped out. Rocket League was fun, but it’s not something I could play every other day.
It’d be cool if Sony gave tiers to Plus. A 20 dollar online multiplayer tier, where you don’t get any benefits from Plus except for netplay. I’d buy that, but I’d bet money most people would opt for that instead of the 70 Plus costs so…it’ll never happen.
I only play three multiplayer games. One of them is 2 player co-op only. I have a lot of games that have online shits but I cant make use of it. Even if I could I wouldnt most times. Shit, I just noticed far cry 3 had online shits a couple weeks ago. I been had that game for over 10 years or some shit. I tried it and didnt care for it.
That’s why I like Xbox Ultimate so much. Cause you get so much shit for $15. Even if I don’t want to game online I still have a constant rotating library of 100+ games I can try
I wonder how Sony will counter Xbox Ultimate, or if they feel a service like it “devalues” games too much.
Next-gen will be interesting, everyone will be battling to get you into their ecosystem since that’s what it’s about these days.

HAHA I mirror this guys opinion. I like me some FPS but I hate the Battle Royale and Hero Shooter fad. I want to try Quake Champions since that is literally THE LAST OF THE MOHICAN arena shooter but I just don’t know…they had to shoehorn in Hero bullshit in that game too.
I play Rocket League every night with a couple friends across the country. It’s my only real social outlet right now. We get in a party and catch up, tell jokes, talk about each other’s moms, and play rocket soccer. So PS+ is well worth it for me.
Speaking of which we need to rally everyone for some Karting soon.
I was lookin’ at the list of multiplayer shit on steam and there is a shit load of games that arent battle royal or hero shooter type games. I couldnt tell you if any of them are fun or not.
Can you still play online on ps3? One day I’ll get on RDR online and shoot a guy off a donkey.
Other than fighting games occasionally, my PS plus is mostly wasted.
I probably use it like 2 out of 12 months.
I’ve played more Monster Hunter World then any other multiplayer online game so this gen has been fantastic for me as far as that realm of gaming is concerned.
Shit, im still lookin’ for a co-op partner for Portal 2. No one on any of my friends list never played it. I got it on ps3 cause it came with a free code for steam version and they’re cross play. My ex wife was suppose to play it with me and she would use the ps3. fuckin bitch always ducked me.
Play smash doubles with a friend with items online. Body the fuck outta peeps.

Yeah but the playerbases will vary from dead to almost dying for most titles. If it’s a Sony title then they probably took down the servers(RIP Killzone and Resistance.)

hellz nah. if I play an old style arena shooter im finna play it on pc. I use to play this one game, a quake game I think, but I forgot what it was called. Shit was fun and fast. Made my left hand hurt so bad. mad cramps. I gotta figure out what game it was.
I got online with da vita the other day and played killzone for a bit. Shit is still a good game for being on that handheld.
Only game I would play online on ps3 is rdr. Im not even sure if any of the other games on it right now have multiplayer.
Quake Champions is an old style arena shooter exclusive to PC you dingleberry.
I had a lot of fun with Killzone: Mercs on the Vita. I managed to get all of the onrine multiplayer trophies, but the single player trophies are ridiculous. You have to beat the game like 8X and shit for the Plat…fuck that.
