Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

$150? Where Alpha Charlie.

Yeah, for $150 there so many better options then the Rom box.

Everywhere. It’s fucking expensive. Amazon might have the Duo versions for less but I don’t want one of those.

$150, for $30 more you you can get an actual Core Grafx Console and a Turbo Everdrive.
At $130 you can get your self a DE 10 nano, set up Project MiSTer and have all the Minis on one box with more accurate game play

Shit’s expensive because you needed to be a Prime member to even pre-order at the time. Looking at the prices now for it and yeah, it’s $150 average. You do get untranslated games with it (why they didn’t translate Snatcher :man_facepalming:)…haha?

Someone CAN through that, but I don’t think most people will. I will take a (((wild guess))) and say RS3 doesn’t want to go through all that. M2 emulation on the mini is supposed to be spot on.

Plus the price of the games through the second hand market are dumb. Not the worst of retro prices, but you’d be paying wwwwaaaay more overall.

I don’t mind going through all that, but I am also a collector. I collect shit. I have a nes mini and genesis mini. Would be cool to have a SNES mini and a T-16 to go with them.

From a collecting standpoint the MISTer and Everdrives serve no interest to me, if I really want to emulate something that doesnt work on my minis or psp/vita on my TV I have a PC for that.

Gamegear mini is dumb doe.

I didn’t know in Super Mario World… Mario can hold 2 items at once.

I don’t know, M2 didn’t do a good job on the Genesis mini.

Some of its really good and some of its ok. I added a bunch of stuff to it and it does pretty good with most everything. Not bad tho.

My biggest issue with the TG 16 Mini is that Konami went the cheap route and could have at least translated Rondo of Blood.

I can probably fix that, with that said, yea that’s pretty lazy since it’s already done.

I’m hella late to the party, but that there Horizon Zero Dawn is pretty fuckin’ cool, isn’t it?

Most definitely. I’ve been almost praying they don’t fuck up the sequel somehow.

They need to get some better voice actors for part 2. The acting in the first one is laughable. They also need to work on the way people talk. I started trying to play this game a second time a week before TLOU2 came out and there is no comparison as far as quality of speaking/dialog goes in the games.

Aside from fucking BROM!, I didn’t notice anything terribly off. Maybe I need to re-play it.

I thought the acting was fine overall.

Not sure when you all last played it but it’s really bad compared to what ND has done with Uncharted 4 and TLOU2 on PS4. It’s not even up to God of War level.

It sounds like someone is just reading a script without much context in a lot of the lines. Then all of the little details that ND has with facial movements, body language, etc, aren’t happening in HZD. I just think they really need to step their game up.

Just look at this interaction here. It’s so amateurish. The voice acting, the way they interact and look at eachother, etc.

“Warn them. How?”

EDIT:

And I’m not saying it’s like unwatchable or anything, but compared to stuff ND has done this gen it just isn’t even in the same realm. I just literally started HZD like 3 days before TLOU2 came out and the difference was jarring.

We get it, you consider TLOU2 to be a 17/10 masterpiece

LOL. Not just talking about that though as mentioned. Uncharted 4 has better acting than HZD too. So does God of War. I’m only like 2-3 hours into HZD maybe but the chemistry between characters just isn’t there. Not saying it’s easy to do either.

And it’s a 20/10.

EDIT:

And I think most people whether they love or hate TLOU2 agree that from a technical point of view it is basically at the top of the list.

I didn’t take it that way. I think he’s referring to the technical aspects. That said Horizon Zero Dawn is 3 and half years old at this point. I wouldn’t expect it to be on par with another big budget release from a technically gifted studio released so much later.
