Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

Oooh okay gotcha. I haven’t leveled up too much and did strength for a lot of them so far but I still can’t hold it with one hand. Looking at the stats on the bastard sword it didn’t have a field that shows what you need your strength to be in order to hold it with one hand.

I have the schmitar or whatever that is as my main sword. I was using the battle axe until I got that. I have it at +3 right now.

If Bluepoint didnt change the menu then the stats are shown on the weapons it’s just next to a symbol. The symbol matches the stat, you can check them in the lvlup screen or the stat acreen.

Later games use less esoteric symbols, like a hand is Dexterity, a flexing arm in Strength.

Okay gotcha I will just have to get used to everything. I’m far from an RPG person and all these little icons and all these small fonts and stats are hard to take in lol.

When you’re in your inventory press square on a weapon or item and it will bring up another stat sheet the gives more info.

Went ahead and jumped on Cyberpunk for PS4 since it was only $50. Maybe I’ll invest in the version made specifically on PS5 down the line if enough content is added

I like what little I’ve seen of the game kinda hype for this

If you buy the PS4 version, they let you upgrade for free to the PS5 version when you transfer to your PS5.

OH FUCK, CYBERPUNK 2077 IS OFF THE HOOK.

Hand to Hand needs some work, but otherwise the combat is excellent.
And it wasn’t clear to me how to do a Take Down in that Tutorial area, on PC it’s your F Key once you get into position. Otherwise it’s what ever you action button is on consoles.

Oh the “Glitches” everyone bitching about? Thats not the game that’s glitching.
That literally part of the aesthetic, this is not mean saying its “feature not a bug”, no the glitchiness you see is literally a visual effect to sell you off that your a cyborg. It’s like the film scratches you see in LA Noir.

I’ll be double dipping on a Steam purchase next time this is on sale.

Almost done with Chapter 2 on Yakuza 0. I think this is the most I’ve had Kiryu leveled up in the game compared to in comparison to when I completed the game. I missed so much, but it’s makes the Legend run that much better. :facepunch:

So more Demon’s Souls questions…

Is there a general strategy people use when they get to a boss?

I got to the boss of 2-1 yesterday. The first time I got there I got like completely destroyed to the point like I got lost in the camera and couldn’t even see what was going on.

The second time I got there I got him like 1/2 health, and right before I died I started to get a little bit of a pattern down.

However, I had like 12 of the grasses and used all of them and now have none, so now I have no chance to beat him.

So like what is the strategy at this point? Now if I go back to the boss I will get completely whooped. without any grass. Is there a specific spot to go farm them? Or do people farm souls and then guy em? Those things aren’t cheap either!

Also is using the things that make your weapon have fire or magic worth saving just to have for the bosses? I am thinking the boss of 2-1 may be hurt by the resin more since I used that on one of the larger enemies on the level and it took off WAY more health, and the theme is also kind of fire.

Are the bosses in this game kind of like Mega Man where certain bosses have weaknesses from specific items/weapons? I guess I could google this too but I also don’t want to basically just end up reading a walk through on how to defeat everything.

Think the bosses less of Mega man more 3D Punchout, everyone got a pattern to learn to exploit

I was referring more to the weapon used does more damage than others, depending on the boss you face.

99% of the game is pattern recognition and knowing when and how to attack.

The weapons themselves don’t have that megaman or Pokémon style effectiveness.

Now certain weapons help as they are ranged and you keep your distance doing hit and run attacks, but that’s more strategy with a weapon type than that weapon being more or less effective.

Like there fire bombs before the first boss, the boss isn’t more susceptible to fire, they just work as it’s a thrown bomb and some people work in into the strategy of fighting that first boss, chuck bombs till you are up close then wail on the guy with your weapon of choice.

The game works on a shmup/punchout pattern recognition to beat bosses. Some dudes have their own minion who get in the way and you got to kill them first, others have huge attacks that leaves themselves open after they swing at you.

Didn’t think the game would go on sale that fast, even with the holidays haha. I regret not picking up my free steel case though. I consider the ~$50 I payed for it as peace of mind so I’m not ducking spoilers. The Yakuza sub-reddit is the good laugh I never knew I needed or existed, prior to this game.

Still hoping for the samurai games :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

I’m debating on buying it, made hella funds from flipping shoes this week, so I may buy Yakuza too.
