I think in Shinobi’s case, they could’ve done more. This game came out year after the DC was discontinued and a major restructure. I the restructure had something to do with it. Z.O.E, DMC and MGS2 ran at 60fps, so I think it could have, but I chalk it up to the shake-ups at Sega happening at the time.
Another sparse environment, but the that ran at 60fps was Gungrave. That’s one I plan to get back to later this year as well.
Regardless, in 2020, I’m absolutely loving this game and the OST is
Did you ever play Gunvalkeryie? It came out the same year as Shinobi and had the same style as far aerieal dash, attack, dash, attack but was shooter oriented. It had a pretty involved control scheme and was from Smilbit (JSR, JSRF). It was supposed to be on the DC as well.
Just grab the Switch. Joycon drift is a thing, and Nintendo is still fixing Joycons for free. The president just acknowledged and apologized about it too. The drift can happen on the Lite and instead of it happening to JUST the controllers, it happens to the whole system.
Shmups are better on Switch just for the fact that you can use both Joycons, detached from the screen. The screen can then be used vertically as well, for Tate mode goodness.
24 year old female smash player “groomed” a 14 year old kid.
Isn’t this like the 5th or 6th time a pedo has come out of the Smash community? Did the scene get infiltrated by Epsteins old crew or some shit, or do Nintendo games like Smash stunt mental growth leading you to be a child your whole life mentally?(this is a joke by the way, usually I don’t like saying that but earlier someone didn’t read the first line of text in my post before replying to it and I seent someone make a serious reply to a joke post as well. Yeah. COVID induced ADHD.)
I’ll cosign getting a standard Switch over the Switch Lite if money isn’t an issue. Besides what was already mentioned about the controls, the screen is bigger, too. And even if you don’t care about docking it, at least you’ll have the option should you ever decide to.
Man vids of Gunvalkyrie are hard to find with good gameplay, I had one channel but I think dude deleted his stuff. Another one was uploaded but it’s hard to make out, and it’s a boss fight, which is cool, but it doesn’t show the platforming.
The Lite has better ergonomics than the original switch. If you don’t care about docking the lite is worth for that alone. The original switch on portable mode can get uncomfortable after a while.
I remember watching a yt vid where some chick who’s all about switches and 3d’s bought her husband a v2 switch and swapped the screen out for the v1 screen, which is supposedly better.
My brother rented this back in the day and I thought it was fucking awesome.
The past few years I’ve been snagging PS2 games whenever I can for reasonable prices(which is most of the library) but I’ve never come across Gungrave or its sequel once. I don’t think it’s super expensive either, but it’s definitely rare. I was also kind of hype for the announcement of the new game, but it’s VR only I believe so…that killed my hype instantly.
Never seent it once in person. Might have to bite the bullet and buy onrine…
Shit’s dark. I won’t go into details because it’s fucked up, but it’s all there in that thread.
I re-bought my copy off ebay a few years back, with the sequel which I never played. I was browsing ebay the other night and decided to look it up for shits n giggles and found like, one copy. Saw more listing for the sequel Gungrave Overdose.
A new one is in the works, that isn’t VR
Found a channel on Gunvalkyrie, that doesn’t suck.
I’ve got Gungrave as well. Fun game, had a really arcade feeling to me. Wasn’t as much to sink your teeth into as a lot of it’s contemporaries, but cool nonetheless. Didn’t get to play gunvalkarie for more than a few minutes on a friend’s xbox, never owned the original one. Looked like a game I’d enjoy though. And yeah, the Shinobi ost is forever burned into my head, love it. Another area where nightshade really falls short vs it’s predecessor.
Man, that generation had so many great action games.
I have both GunGrave games. I haven’t played either of them in over 10 years tho. Could be fun to dig them out. The first one had simple gameplay but was so stylish. I honestly dont remember the second one much.
