Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

Yea if I ever got one of the 1uos the first thing I would be doing is missing it to add more titkes, which means the only one worth buying is the SF machines because they have the most buttons.

That Neogeo Bartop Cab looks sick but 450 is a ton of money.

So it looks like Nvidiaā€™s releasing the RTX 3060 Ti later this coming October.

Seems that theyā€™re jumping straight to Ti to either fight RDNA2 or because the chips for the regular RTX 3060 arenā€™t ready (the Ti is using a cut down 3070 chip).

Is Gameranx getting worse, or am I just getting old?

I feel like the more time that passes, the less interesting I find their videos and takes on things. I donā€™t even really watch Before You Buys anymore since itā€™s usually such a surface level assessment of whatever game.

Sometimes I get the feeling their appreciation and knowledge on games is a lot more surface level than I thought in general.

Yea I was never very interested in Gameranx, all their videos strike me as day 1 impressions which isnā€™t good enough for me personally.

I generally like the Friday news round up more than before you buy.

For reviews I still like Gamespot even though I may be in the minority.

My own internal score is either gamespots or an average of ign and Gamespot.

RE: About Silent Hill. Stopping and starting at the first one, arenā€™t a bad thing. 2 is the GOAT, but if youā€™ve never experienced it and/or donā€™t care to, SH1 is solid on its own.

I mean, donā€™t get me wrong SH1 is phenomenal and a fantastic game well enough on its own, but 2 is one of those sequels that just imrpvoes and expands upon the previous in every single way. To such a proportion that it grew into an all time classic.

Yea but if you thought the original was good but enough, motivation enough to keep going?

SH2 was pretty good story wise, the SH3 not so much but I think is a little bit more creepy. Iā€™d like to go back and play the original someday which I have never played.

In this case, to not jinx it, youā€™d probably be pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, you already have played one of the cooler games ever made.

Might be worth to check out just for the production values. Itā€™s been ages, but the game looked insane, as did Konami game in general during 6th Gen.

Yea im sure its fantastic, but if you dont really care about the horror genre at all are you really gonna appreciate it? Like I have no interest. Itā€™d be one thing if I have some level of interest but I have none so would it really be worth it?

Iā€™m not saying itā€™s bad. Iā€™m just not interested. Thatā€™s time I could be spending on other titles Iā€™m actually interested in right?

Let us reminisce on how awful and disappointing this game is

The controls in silent Hill suck ass thatā€™s probably the reason you wonā€™t like them but Iā€™d believe this is done in purpose theyā€™re trying to convey the feeling youā€™re helpless against these creatures so must of the time you spend running away for your life. I liked them the 2 and 3 and Iā€™ll probably like the first one. I didnā€™t like 4.The others are not worth it theyā€™re not made by the same team I havenā€™t heard any good things about them.

Watched already. Was really good but a little long. Felt I got the point at the 30 min mark. Needed to trim some fat but otherwise great break down of why that games a fucking mess.

I liked Silent Hill 1. Just not enough to keep going thatā€™s all.

Tank controls are optional in 2 anyway.

I like Tank Controls lol.

I grew to like them as well. To the point Iā€™m sad we never got a fixed camera angle mode in either of the RE Remakes.

Ive always liked them, but God Hand is the game that showed me they can be just as fast, agile, and nimble as any other system and will really give you a unique experience when done right.

Sadly no one does them anymore really.

SH1 is on PSN. It will cost nothing during the Halloween sale, and this year, I WILL buy The House of the Dead games to use them with my move+Thrillzone 3 gun.

SH2 isnā€™t remembered for its horror aspects actually, itā€™s talked about and remembered fondly because of its deep story and characters. It has multiple endings as well.

If you watch LI Joe and Salami up there talk about it, they arenā€™t talking about the horror aspects either.

The game is an experience like none other Iā€™ve ever had. Itā€™s so good.

Right, but it is a horror game, thatā€™s the central theme.
