Just finished the single player campaign in Star Wars Battlefront II
Gotta say it’s actually quite alright. Some of the scenarios do feel a bit ridiculous (like a spy wiping out 50 resistance troopers or two soldiers escaping from Empire after being denounced as traitors), but the action is plenty. Could use with less “forced slow walk while characters sput exposition” stuff however.
You get to use every Original Trilogy hero during the campaign, though their missions are a one-and-done and a bit boring.
The space combat missions are pretty fun though at times you feel like you get decimated by enemies within seconds out of nowhere. Mostly because of the dreadnought cannons which there’s not much you can do to avoid aside from rolling like a madman
If you’re not prepared to die often then lower the difficulty because the checkpoints system is kinda ass and puts you right at the beginning of scripted/dialogue segments so you’ll hear the characters say same shit over and over again.
Speaking of saying same things again - there’s a weird bug where the characters will sometimes repeat their lines. Happened at random and throughout all of the campaign. Really weird.
Another bug is when the enemies take cover they get stuck in this sort of animation loop of leaning out and getting back in until you either shoot them to death or get too close so they try to melee you instead. And this also happened throughout the campaign, so it’s not a specific mission’s issue
The Enemy AI is incredibly fucking stupid. You know how you deal with most areas with a lot of stormtroopers? Shoot one, cause an alarm state, get behind a corner or up/down the ladder, and just headshot every single one of them cuz they’ll just zergrush you, completely out in the open to be fired upon.
One thing that I think was really cool in the campaign is they showed the Battle of Jakku, which sorta creates a tie-in between post-Ep6 SW and the pre-EP7 SW to let you know where did all those Star Destroyers come from on the surface of the planet (in fact the last shot of that mission is precisely the moment where you see Rey do a scavenge hunt mission inside the thing at the beginning of Force Awakens
I guess I’ll try out the multiplayer tomorrow, and at the very least the game seems somewhat easy to Platinum. But man this shits weighs 115 GB(!) after all the updates and patches.
I played Wolcen at launch, it had potential but the team has no idea how to balance the game and each “balance” patch they have released has actually just made the situation worse. They did the typical “apply nerfs intended for the 0.01% that fuck over everyone else.” Last time I played they still had several skills on trees which actually didn’t work or do what they said they did. The other reason I quit playing is that there is nothing to do as far as endgame content and no point in grinding since online characters are server side it’s just a matter of time before you lose everything.
Probably not gonna have one given that the studio had to close because somebody had the brightest idea in the world to make a Sleeping Dogs “sequel” except it’s a one massive asset flip and was MMO-ish/multiplayer oriented, but of course flopped as that’s not what the fans of the game wanted.
Not sure if Square has a studio under their wing that could make a decent GTA clone today. Avalanche come to mind because of the Just Cause series but that’s it.
I was gonna say that
Though, i would say that everyone blowed up out of proportion the CTRNF mtxs.
The way the game handles you the ingame currency is sogenerous that you dont really need to buy them at all.
1 week of gameplay nets you around 35k, and they doubled the time window for rewards some time later so you can make up to 70k+.
As i see it, they added it as a way to give an option for those who want to unlock stuff but dont want to devote themselves to a single game for 1 to 2 hours per day.
And the upraor was because on this current years there is a huge backlash against mtxs be lootboxes or not, specially if they are added after release, and considering how terrible were the ones they added to cod, is easy to understand the initial outcry.
I didn’t know Squeenix owned the Fear Effect IP. It’s probably chained in their basement next to the IPs for Brave Fencer Musashi and Valkyrie Profile.
I think Squeenix just publishes Just Cause and that’s it. I also don’t think they’d be able to make a good Sleeping Dogs game.
I’ve never been able to get into a JC game. I tried out 2 and 3, but I just couldn’t get into them. RAGE 2 was the only game they made that I actually finished, but goddamn was it such an average game outside of the gameplay. If you weren’t shooting things the game was a slog.
I know Sedna is not the first game. I was just making a general comment about it. New game looks lulz.
I wonder how much the first game is going for in ebay? I was looking at PSX games I used to own, and everything I thought about buying again is over $100…
EDIT: Fear Effect going for ~$20. Second game going higher ~$30-$40.
I didnt like Fear Effect. The story was ok and it looked real cool but the controls was all kinda fucked up and it just wast all that fun. I tried it again not long ago and it still sucks.
I checked how much my black label SOTN was going for and it’s worth 2X what I paid for it a few years back. Shiiiiiieeeeeeeeeet. I don’t want to look at loose Chrono Trigger carts…I know it’s like 4-5X+ what I sold it for years ago.
Yea i was looking at buying SOTN black lable a few months ago and the prices had me kinda side eyeing them lol. Seems a little inflated for that games print count. Might have to scoop it soon despite the price since it’s probably Only going to continue going up. Meh…
