Mang this new Path of Exile expack is boring as shit. It might be my least favorite one I ever played, goddamn is it boring. It’s a blessing though - I can actually focus on other things and other gaemz for a few weeks at least.
To be fair, Perth can’t even make up his own mind/opinion on gaemz he plays. See: SFV.
Also Perth you jabroni, I went to tag you the other day on-the-platform-that-shall-not-be-mentioned-hosted-by-Shaft-Agent and I couldn’t. U bish, I wanted to see if you were up to date on the crazy Chris D’lia shiiiet going on and the fallout of it all.
Picked the ps4 God of War back up the other day. I bought it on sale late 2018, initially played if for maybe 4-5 hours then put it down when my controller started fucking up (was getting random inputs that made Kratos spaz out like the imps in SotN). Resuming where I left off, I’m really not getting the levels of hype the game got. It looks amazing, particularly for a vanilla ps4 game, but I’m really spoiled by 60fps on pc, so that detracts from the visual impact. More importantly, I’m just not jiving with the combat- feels clunky and choppy, and I really don’t like how the leveled enemies work- seems too RPG-ish in a way that’s more stats than skill driven. Also seems like a lot of boring in-between fetching. I’ll still finish it (just had the severed head talk to the snake), just a bit let down after seeing it talked up so much here.
He made up his mind, he knows the game is trash.
He is just a massive masochist that loves playing games he clearly hates to make himself feel misserable.
Dude I thought the exact same thing and said the same here a few months ago. I called it Zelda of Diablo because it felt more like an ARPG to me with all of the RPG mechanics going on(damage numbers combined with a shallow skill tree and barebones itemization) while adding things like COOLDOWNS to his old signature attacks. You can’t even jump either, and that right there is ridiculous. Imagine if you couldn’t jump in DMC, NG or Bayo, or that Dante had a cooldown on his Stinger and launcher. DAFUQ
The combat got worse imo, they went backwards there. There’s also a little too much backtracking too. I did still enjoy it but not as much as I thought I would have.
I raise two depressing info nuggets on of my favorite games. This from three years ago.
This just came out
I should hook up my DC and fire up some JSR (I refuse to call it Jet Grind Radio). The 360 emulation and unskippable cutscenes on JSRF means it stays in the close
One of the best ARPG’s of all time, as well as one of the best games of all time turns 20 today. It was the SFII of the genre for the longest time - so many games would be called “Diablo clones.” I’ve played a shitload of them over the years, but other than Diablo II Path of Exile is the only one I’ve sunk 1000’s of hours into. The game is so good that, not even its sequel could live up to the expectations Diablo II set, and to this day, 20 years later titles STILL take inspiration from it and there are still 1000’s of people playing on Battle.net to this day. Not many games can keep a community for so long, let alone have their servers running for so long.
An 11/10 title that you could play pretty much endlessly if the addicting gameplay loop hooked you. Killing monsters, levelling up, finding awesome loot, crafting phat loot and exploring truly randomized areas meant you could replay the game for as long as you wanted. I made every character class and build variant there was, that’s how much I liked the game. Everything from summoner Necromancers who’d have 50+ minions on screens(lagging everyones early 2000 PC’s in the process) to MELEE SORCERESSES just because you could, because the itemization allowed for something like a goddamn melee caster class. Hurricane Druids to Werewolf Druids to Bear Druids because goddamn yo, the game offered so many different ways to play each class.
If you don’t care to play the game, then at least watch the FMV cinematics in the video there, because goddamn is the story good. I still think about the game from time to time, and I still boot up the game to run the occasional Diablo run or to refresh my characters that have items that you can’t get anymore, because of the various patches over the years. For comparison I don’t even have Diablo III installed on anything.
The game taught me a lot about online play in these types of titles too. Scammers and people trying to fuck you over were everywhere. PoE released their game in Korea, and when they did there was an influx of “b.net kiddies” AKA shitty players who’d play seemingly just to fuck you over/try to scam you. Thing is, I played Diablo II so I knew about all of these shenanigans they were trying to pull.
Happy 20th to one of the greatest games of all time.
Yeah I played for a bit during the winter. Was able to get CoH and Infinity runewords. Then I decided to up and quit one day because it’s still too damn addicting. Made a game and gave away my gear to some random.
Played against this TEKKEN GOD PRIME Bryan(highest rank in Tekken 7) the other day. Bruh this dude was garbage, I think he save scummed his rank. He got no round brown’D and I ended the final round with an SRK → FADC → SRK → FADC CR.MK Tatsu. Dude left after juan match and I’m like half his rank.
I’ve been using Geese a lot after the recent round of Akuma nerfs. His wall combos are fucked up…if you wall splat someone and side step, you can potentially wall carry them to the closest wall followed by another wall splat. I meant for the first 2 wall splats against this Lili player, but somehow the bish ended up getting wall splatted for the third time into a perfect. I let out a “HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” IRL followed by laughter, the situation and damage was just fucked up. I lost that match in the end but whatever yo, 100% triple wall splat combos.
Speaking of Diablo 2, what’s up with Wolcen? I saw it on sale on Steam and it has mixed reviews. Checked the community hub and there’s only 477 players in-game.
It’s fun for what it is, but it’s kind of bare-bones and the devs FUCKED UP the release of the game big time. You could dupe items and infinitely generate currency, so that destroyed the trading economy before it even begun.
Pound for pound outside of PoE I’d go with Grim Dawn. It’s really good and there’s a shitload of content with the 2 expansions. Sacred 1 still holds up imo, those games cost like a peanut on Steam and if you have a PSP/Vita this game is one of my favorites:
The game is so, so damn good. It even dunks on Sony’s Diablo clones on PSP(Untold Legends 1 & 2.)
Wolcen still looks like a damn good time to me; I have no problem with a game having supposedly “broken” godlike OP nonsense going on in it. It looks fun, has cool visuals and unlike handicap oops I mean pc-version Diablo 3, it has offline capability if I recall so it will always have that over it at the least. It would just be nice if they release a console version too.
