Pretty much this, would’ve loved to have seen the finished product, even with the goofy stuff.
Maybe it’s how I view Kojima’s work, but I always feel some people put way too much stock on some elements when all they’re meant to be is cheesey sci-fi/supernatural spy thrillers.
Most of that is because the one Metal Gear game where he tried to say something important everyone not only missed it despite how spelled out it is, but they all complained to.
So he went back to making easy to swallow anti-war anti-nuke messages surrounded by crazy science fiction.
He’s not wrong lol. Its very rare that people post in the actual VGM thread. I keep it alive to post about VGM stuff in there mostly same as it always has even when VGM fridays was a thing in lounge.
Edit: Music is a part of games…whether you choose to not pay as much attention to that aspect or not doesn’t change that fact. Good VG music can actually cement a game and gaming moments into their memories. This is a Video Game General discussion thread and VG music falls under that discussion. It’s 1 day out of the week where people can talk and celebrate that piece of gaming culture. It’s really not bad and may actually drive interest in games people haven’t played before or rekindle love for old ones. /2 cents
That’s a component, yes, but with XBox, I think it’s much more that the XBox One just couldn’t fuck with PS4 as far as exclusives. I remember people twitter-screaming at Phil about XBox’s lack of games when he congratulated Sony Santa Monica for God of War’s success two years ago.
Believe it or not, before 2009, SRK had a good chunk of 3s evangelist that you would have thought this place was 3s central.
I think with time the moved on to other places, like dedicated reddits, fb groups and now discord.
But for a while, you had them poping up on almost every thread trying to convert you into a 3s player while shitting on other games.
I think that the feeling that it was overrated came from that, lol.
It got to the point that some pro players started dissecting/shitting on the game, like Viscant and his infamous thread where he explained why 3s wasnt really an SF game because how everyone was played and basically being mini grapplers or something like that, lol (of course, i am oversimplifying his pov).
So on one hand, you had people shitting n the game because in their eyes was an unbalanced mess that wasnt a real SF, and the people praising it as the best game ever, and the pinnacle of balance.
Then SF4 came out, and you could hear less and less from the 3s players, since because the huge amount of 09’s and the changes on the site, many started to leave the place.
I never understood why people care if a game is balanced. If it’s fun, and not so broken that it can’t be played, then
Most of us will never get to the level where it really matters that much anyway.
It matters because balance can affect how much a person can enjoy a game.
Specially when it restricts what options they can use, by removing what they like from the game.
Is true that if the game is fun, you can overlook its balance problems, but that only can work to some extent, and that varies from person to person, and from game to game.
@Dangerous_J@GPK I started Judgement up yesterday. Game is fun as hell…dem off the wall moves are too good. I get some oldschool beat em up vibes from them, and you have so many options off the wall. M Jack of the wall.jpeg
That was the game that made me realise Squeenix only releases garbage games these days. Feelsbadmang, I used to love their stuff. I think Konami is the only other publisher I went from loving to hating in the span of one and a hife generations.
