I see MS just lost next gen before it even started…
What? You didn’t like the gamepass showcase?
Was just about to post this. I’m down for G4’s return, they just gotta fill the stuff with actual gaming content and there is A TON of stuff. They could have content like what happen on it as well as have big game tournaments stream on the channel. G4 used to have content like Icons that was great before it went down hill so I’m curious to see what they do.
My issue with G4 coming back, even in its most idealized form is the same issue I have with shit like ESPN existing. What’s the point anymore? It made more sense when there weren’t any other platforms, or the platforms were still in their infancy. But with streaming, the advent of online roundtables, and directs now instead of actual conferences there’s no more point for G4’s existence.
Brie Larson wants to play Samus in a Metroid movie
Suikoden creators announce spirtitual successor
But why? They pulled cops from tv.
I’m down. Though it’s for selfish reasons. I wanna bathe in people’s salty tears
Im down. Would watch
She’s emotionless enough for Samus.
Fun lil snes music test, there was only one I didn’t know.
Harder quiz, only kinda knew 1 and I have a remix of one of the tracks on here but couldn’t think of the game
Beat me to it.
Bad casting for Captain Marvel, maybe even just bad directing, but she would actually be perfect for someone like Samus.
Problem with that is if someone did happen to make a live action Metroid, they’d probably try way too hard to make Samus this relatable human character with tons of dialog, which kind of misses the point. (See Other M)
I feel like a Metroid film would have to lean a lot into the Sci Fi Horror to work. Samus would still need to be a mostly silent protagonist, showing expression only through the haze of her visor or limited scenes with her helmet off.
If they could pull off a sort of slow-burn Horror movie, that’d be amazing, but I can’t see anyone that picks up the project having the artistic integrity to emulate the games that much. It’ll probably be an over the top action thriller with light to almost no inspiration from the source material.
Metriod is just something that isn’t meant to be “watched” but experienced. You can’t replicate the first time playing through a Metroid game with a movie.
You certainly can’t replicate what makes the games great in a totally different medium. But if they’re gonna try anyway, they could definitely at least capture the spirit of the games.
Could you guys not spend a lot of time on goofy personal beefs here?
Thats it really. We have ignore for a reason.
Thank you.

Uh… Sure?
Metroid doesn’t work in live action. The premise would be best done as a stylized show like Samurai Jack with minimal dialogue.
Yeah, I just caught up with the thread.
The post stands.
