I can’t believe anyone could complain about PS4. “Oh, it’s only bigger and better.”
Um…yeah. It is. That is what real gamers want, along with good games. Not gimmicky shit Nintendo does. Just wish they would go third party so I could just have their awesome games on Sony’s awesome system.
Well, it could happen if Nintendo fucks up again against the PS5. Wii U isn’t doing as well as a nextgen system should. That cannot happen twice in a row, especially if they stumble harder with their next handheld (3DS was a disaster at first). Only a matter of time until they go down, unless they get with it.
The vast majority of people who discuss games on the Internet don’t let E3 alone decide what they buy, if anything E3 is more of a “get hype for shit you will probably buy at some point and get hype for the dumb shit you won’t buy but will laugh at when we demonstrate it with unintentionally hilarious results” event. That and judging the big 3 at E3 is half the fun lol.
Nintendo makes most of their greatest games based upon their own hardware strengths and ideas. The assumption that if they go third party all would be great is kind of baseless. Games like Super Mario 64 wouldn’t have happened had they not come up with the idea for the analog stick and based the game around that.
Didn’t Square-Enix have an announcement for an E3 announcement during the PS4 conference? Or are they saving their announcement for TGS? Either way I’m not too excited since it’s most likely gonna be something for Lightning Returns.
I wouldn’t even really be surprised if they announce a WiiU or 3DS port of FFIV at this point since they love to milk that game for some reason.
Let me remind you of exactly what they did: they sent their brand director all the way from Japan just to tell everyone to wait till E3. A tweet would’ve saved them cash.
That wasn’t a big deal to me. The storage size between the Minidisc and DVD wasn’t as bad as the difference between the N64’s cartridge compared to a CD. Worse comes to worse the larger games came in 2 discs. There wasn’t even that many multi-disc GC games anyway for those of you that hate getting up to change discs.
Hopefully everyone knows the size of a game isn’t a measure of its length or quality.
GTA3 was 1GB and could’ve fit on a single minidisc. Problem was GC didn’t get GTA so something something nintendo is kiddy.
Or we can look at games this gen. God of War 3 and FF13 are 35-40GB in size. Dark Souls is 5GB. Which is the better game?
The mini-disc was the latest in a long line of things Nintendo did to piss third-parties off. Despite the fact that the storage space was negligible on most titles(outside of those Squaresoft wank fests that covered three fucking discs), between the consoles, the fact that third parties had to pay to manufacture those tiny things combined with the lowered sales due to the smaller userbase meant made GC less profitable to develop for.
Combine that with the fact that long time Ninty supporters like Square, Capcom, and Konami had jumped ship to Sony along with EA putting out the shittiest ports this side of Wii shovelware pretty much killed any chance that anyone else would take the risk to port titles over to GC once the sales numbers dropped. Nintendo’s “kiddy” image isn’t due to them actually being kid-friendly, but moreso the fact that no one would take the financial risk of putting a GTA or CoD on a Nintendo platform.
Eh, it’s not like the GC suffered for having the mini-discs. PS2 or Xbox games could be ported over to the GC, and in some cases GC had the superior version of games that got ported over to the other consoles, like RE4.
@Sonichuman, do a good deed, and stop linking to Neogaf, unless it’s something Neogaf created themselves (joke gifs, detective work, insider rumors). Credit the original news source. Not telling you what to do but it’s the right thing to do. Thanks!
WD is in a league of it’s own as far as potential and hype. It will go down as one of gaming’s most massive disappointments if it doesn’t live up to it’s premise and become a generation defining title. GTA+AC+sci fi gadgets+morally ambiguous social commentary? Yes please!
