i know what you’re saying and i agree to an extent.
but listen, nintendo sometimes is trying to be too innovative all the time.
that they alienate everyone how to play games, INCLUDING 3rd party developers.
remember gamecube controller?..
i swear to god, first time i saw that controller.
i instantly thought how can you play street figther or tekken with that controller.
well… for a pad… you can’t!
sometimes sticking with your fundamentals is more important that complete innovation.
I’m not quite sure I follow this…Are you saying that when you first saw the gamecube controller you thought about how you can play fighters on it then found out that it wasn’t the case or are you saying when you first saw the gamecube controller you thought about how it would work with fighting games and you don’t get the same thought process upon seeing the wii u pad?
Well honestly I don’t know what she’ll look like so…sure? Regardless, we need some of the old crew back together. I mean it’s not like Nick and Ema were the only ones doing shit over the time skip.
And the prosecutor…yeesh. Hope Nick kept some of his badassery from AJ.
what im saying is, when i first saw the gamecube’s innovative button layout.
i knew it they lost 2d fighter titles on the gamecube, because they did.
instead, ps2 got everything.
and because nintendo is too innovating sometimes, it counter acts the software designers.
the gamecube controller made it so that a fighting game will have to be based exclusively around the hardware.
thank you for smash brothers that worked for that controller.
but regardless, they lost others.
funny… un expectedly , soul calibur 2 for gamecube controller worked fairly well.
guilty gear, 3rd strike, CvS2 or MvC2… not so much.
Wii… it got worst.
3rd party game developers have to develop their games exclusive to be based on their control.
business perspective, 3rd party hated this.
a hyperbole example, its like for street fighter tryin to change the hardware control from arcade stick to kinetic for the sake of being different.
sometimes its better just to improve what fundamentally works, than to completely re invent how games are suppose to be played…
I don’t think the controller had much to do with fighters hardly showing up on the system so much as there were far more people that owned ps2’s. gamecube did have gimped dpad but that didnt stop them from coming out on 360. The controller did have 4 face buttons and 2 shoulder buttons which was enough for most fighters.
There are too many impressive games from this generation I’ve yet to play for me to care too much about whether E3 will have any good games or not. That being said 2013 has been off to a great start game wise and there are plenty of qualitiy titles coming, but I’m sure there will be at least a few pleasant surprises as usual so I’m not too worried.
Nintendo’s last direct was on point, just the announcement of a new LttP makes me pre emptively forgive all disappointments they will inevitably have at E3. Iwata’s comments on the Wii U should give people reasonable expectation that they will drop a few bombs for Wii U, like say Zelda U announcement, footage of Mario U (made by the guys who did The galaxy series and SM3DL), and a smash bros teaser. Overall I’m expecting Nintendo to make a strong come back and have the best showing, but even if they don’t it doesn’t matter.
MS’s presentation will be another classic epic failure, to be laughed at and remembered forever if the always online and no used games rumors are true. Even if they aren’t Sony’s PS4 announcement was very impressive overall so it will be very difficult for MS’s console announcement to match it. The saving grace for MS is there 4 new IP’s 1 of which Destiny has been admitted by MS to be their next Halo, targeting a younger audience…so yeah the next 3 IP’s better impress the fuck out of me.
Sony will have a great conference if they focus on games for PS4 instead of their touch and social bullshit. Although I think we can all agree the instant streaming option for PS4 is GDLK in theory.
Seriously though, I’m really excited to see what sony and microsoft have in store. At the very least I’m looking forward to seeing some spies vs mercs.
Wii U has an arcade stick and a standard controller (Wii had one too), not sure why we are arguing about it now. As far as alienating developers because of the pad, I’d rather say developers are uncreative not to want to take advantage of it. And again, it’s not like there aren’t optional controllers for the system that they could add options for.
Anyway not really excited for E3, there’s already enough announced games to be hyped about and released games to catch up on. 360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS, PC are enough for me right now, won’t jump on the new big two until a price drop or a new Megaman.
Don’t believe Capcom’s lies. Didn’t they walk back that statement and say they didn’t have anything Megaman related like five minutes later?
This is going to be such an epic fail of an E3… Everyone get ready because the exact moment the industry becomes totally creatively bankrupt is nigh upon us.
It depends, I see a lot of indie stuff get praised when it’s nothing special, it’s just different from the big guns and people think different automatically means better. There is a lot of them I love but there are even more that deserve some criticism.
Maaaannn. I can’t wait for this shit! Keeping it tuned to this thread for sure.
We’ll finally start seeing some REAL cards thrown on the table.
I’m expecting Sony to take it. I am also expecting MS to try and win people with a pretty Halo 5 teaser.(if they don’t pull that one out during their May reveal.)
This should be awesome.
EDIT: Looking forward to hearing some more about Bungie’s “Destiny”.
Mario Kart, Donkey Kong platformer, Smash Bros or Fallout 4.
If I can get any news on at least one of those titles, I’ll consider this year’s E3 a success.
